About me - George Balas

I have been flying Kites for years, both on land and water so I think I've got a fair idea of what Kites can and can't do.
I haven't done any reviews lately because as much as I enjoy the kites Ive flown recently nothing has realy stood out enough to put fingers to key pad, until today that is.
Well what can I say other than wow what a kite.
This thing is amazing, it is like no other kite I have flown before.

The Kite -
As you're probably already aware this kite only has one strut.
There are no pulleys ( brilliant )The power in this kite is simply outstanding, Its instant, pull the bar in and off you go and boy you do go, to give an analogy to explain it in car terms it's is most other Kites are like a turbo, it takes a bit of time to work the kite to get it to a certain speed and then off they go powering up.
The Solo is like a V8, pull the bar in and off you go with instant power and on the other end let go of the bar and you have instant depower its zerro no power and that is just in the throw of the bar, then pull in the depower strap and there is no power generated at all. It iterally has a huge wind range, I had the 12 meter from 10 knots to 24 knts, and it could've gone a few more knots up its sleeve as well, this kite really is a one Kite quiver.
This kite is also very stable just let go of the bar and its sits there waiting for you to give it something to do.
The relaunch is so easy it's ridiculous, just pull the bar on either side and up it goes, unlike other kites that just stick to the water like glue and can sit there for minutes struggling to get them up.
And then we have the jumping of the Solo. Build up a bit of speed redirect the Kite above your head pull the bar and you'll be ripped off the water and up in the air you go, higher than you've been before, I'm not exaggerating.
I think Liquid force have given this Kite the wrong name, it should Not have been called a SO-LO, it should have been called a SO-HIGH.
Now the floating this kite has is crazy, I had to do my rotations and transitions slower or I would over rotate. Then I decided to compensate for the extra hang time to get an extra rotation so I can come down on my feet instead of over rotating. What an awesome problem that is. I can just keep on about this Kite and making it sound like it is the best thing ever, but until you try for yourself, you will never know what you are missing.
I'm sure most of you have got your preferred Kites and from all kinds of other brands just put aside everything that you know about other Kites and try this Solo you won't be sorry.

The only negative on this Kite is when sitting depowered or idle, it flutters. But to be honest who really cares when are Kite can perform the way does

Go grab a demo.
Cheers

Did Steve put you up to this George?

Only kidding.

That's great to know. You're around my height and weight, so this kite has me interested now.

How do you compare it with some of your foils you've had in the past? Have you flown the Chrono for example? How was the boost and the up-wind compared to a flysurfer?

I am still debating to myself whether I should go with Chrono, Flysurfer or a "good" LEI.

Hey Lofty,
I was happy with my current model NRG. It jumps well it floats great and there was no need for me to spend more money buying another Kite.
I actually grabbed it from the shop from Steve and told him that I was just gonna go out and take it to play with, and to go back to tease him, because I really thought it was gonna be exactly like NRG.
Mate was I wrong, this Kite is a thrill machine.
You do need to try for yourself, it's the only way you'll understand what I'm talking about.
Ps forget the foils you can't compare this thing with foils it kills them much better than the flysurfer.
My NRG is heaps better than the fly Surfer. How do I know this I hear you ask ? It's because I fly with the guy with the fly Surfer and I'm on my NRG I jump higher, float further and Kite in lighter winds than him.
