My Comments:
Just picked up the new Livewire (135cm)..
Unfortunately i have injured my back, so I'm not able to ride the board yet, but hopefully a few can comment on their experiences aswell, so this is mostly about the updated appearance of the 2015 model.
Really impressed with the new look, i love the graphics this year.
The top and bottom layer is quite different to last years, the bottom now has a 0.4mm sintered base which is commonly used in snowboards and ski's, this should be a lot more durable especially when hitting rails and sliders, the bottom also has a progressive dual rocker, with substantial channels in the tips on both the top and bottom (see pics).
The top layer now doesn't have a gloss finish, which i am actually really happy about. Not to sure what it's made out of, though it appears a lot less vulnerable to scratches and hopefully you won't get damage from the boots on the top surface like most kite boards after a few months of use.
The screw thread is now M6 (metric), not to sure what last years thread was (2014 screws not compatible with 2015 thread), however the board is shipped with M6 screws to use for the footpads or boots.
Cant comment on the boards performance yet, but visually the 2015 livewire has had a fair few changes which I'm pretty stoked about, if you have tried one let me know how it went!
The fins (metro 30) are the same as last years which i found worked well for me, though i recon if it wasn't to choppy the channels would be enough to go finless if you were hitting sliders.
Not to much more i can comment on without riding, though ill add more of a review once my injury is better.
Also anyone around the sunny coast area is welcome to demo my 135cm, send me a pm..
Heres some pics, with a few next to the 2014 132cm..
What boots are they in that last pic, Ronix ? Nicely finished off boards, my first board was an airush top quality but rails used to bite your shins though....!!!
Hey guys, I have had two sessions on the new livewire and I have noticed the difference straight away. The channels make it so much better for going up wind and the board has a lot more pop. I'm also loving the fact that their is a grind base and not a high gloss finish like they have been doing for the previous years. If you get a chance I would definitely recommend trying the Airush 2015 livewire. I am absolutely loving the board!
