Kazan there is some excellent discussion and reviews going on the KF at the moment. I think the review by T one(he has ridden FS foils since day dot and thought his review was really balanced) and by Okinawa kiter may help in formulating a decision.

Problem is you'd have to be a very forgiving retailer to stock this kite as a demo kite...it's an expensive piece and relatively fragile (relatively) to have crew doing what they can do to demo kites.

I'd love to try one...

Hmmmmm, Great to see your still kicking, I didn't see you around the traps over the weekend. As you were Votre Altesse

Wow... So happy with the Zephyr.. Had it out today in average of 12 knots and bloody hell it felt awesome... The thing has heaps of grunt and it turns fairly quickly for such a big kite... Only a little slower than the vector 11m!!! Very happy :)

Need some advice in light wind boards to acompany the zephyr. Was out late yesterday arvo at Melville and was able to hold my ground until I started jumping it was averaging about 13knots on te chart but I think it was lighter.. Ender up at the pine tree after starting off at the gum tree. After about an hour I think my 132x41 board it too small for my 85 pies at that wind... I have a 5'11 skinny (45cm wide??) surf board I had from when I was younger (sinks when I sit in it now) ... but i want to jump still and im not sure if i could with this on flat water (never tried)

Ultimately looking for a light wind board and typical sizes.. Should I stay above 145cm long and 45 cm wide? With a really straight rocker and concave shape??

Any advise would be great cheers

I doubt that your surfboard is going to be enough if you sink on it, and large TT's will work better for jumping without breaking. Avoid deep concaves for a light wind board, a shallower concave or multiple concaves will work better. You would get a lot of fun from a any of the boards listed below, but there are several other brands too including Nobile, Spleene, etc.
Cab Stylus 1.55 - http://www.kitepower.com.au/cabrinha-stylus-1784.html
Axis Ultra - www.kitepower.com.au/axis-ultra-2014.html
Crazy Fly Cruiser Pro - www.kitepower.com.au/crazyfly-cruiser-pro-2014.html
Crazy Fly All Round Large size - www.kitepower.com.au/crazyfly-allround-2014.html

I've used all the above and prefer the Stylus, then Axis, then CF, and have owned a nobile magic carpet too.

How are people who have a 2013 zeph going on with it? Any issues, or all good?

ive been out on it 7-8 times now and i can confirm the kite is wikid. it isnt really much slower than my old vector 11m especially as you have a massive bar to help with turning. on my old 132 momentum board with medium rocker I could get going on 10knots but would need around 12knots to stay upwind. At 85kg i recon i could get up to around 18-19knots beofre i have to come in and change tot he 10m..what i would say is that the kite is much different to jump in light wind and you do go quite far down wind. i guess this is normal in these conditions,m its just i am not used to it.. maybe other light wind riders could confirm... there has been two occasions where I have swung like a pendulum under the kite and its flipped inside out and i have had to deploy the safety...

its just been my first seasons past and the kite has been great with my progression with front rolls & back roll. starting to unhook soon so can let you know more on this later.. hope this helps.

it just requires a different technique to boost. one you figure it out it jumps like any other kite with good float. Not a huge jumper but still goes biggish in 20knots

The zephyrs boosting gets worse at it's higher end, sure it has hangtime but for me around 17knts it's better than 20

Definately agree with u there. Every time I go out I try new things, hard to
Compare against my smaller c kite but I love it!!!!

I was boosting right at it's top end for me and getting some decent rip off the water. I do know what you mean though but find if you time it just perfect off the chop it goes alright for what it is

My apologies if this has already been discussed (could not find anything related here), but has anyone ridden both the Zephyr and the Blade Fat Lady? What do you think of the two and what their main differences are, if any?

Thanks

owned a fat lady for 2 years and persisted with its terrible upwind ability, when it would go upwind ok it was windy enough for the 12
zepher is 10 fold better than the v1FL, unhooking, jumps, upwind, works well with the raceboard, and most of all FUN

Around 8 to 9 knts, when I tested its bottom end , it'd be possible below that you'd just have to finess it,,relaunching under ten on the water you need to be patient, around 10 it's a piece of cake

Cheers Cauncy, so it just sits ok? When tether launching the edge 11, needs a bit of wind because it wanted to roll off sometimes, ha!

When parked correctly, also a bit of power on the trim helps, but only in light winds , you may of had the edge a bit out of the wind window? Good to see you talked the missus around , what did it cost you , the missus not the kite
