I love these Kites (2012 Jekyll 5) and think Gaastra are really getting their act together, please accept I aint no pimp, just a regular free and surf rider, TT only at this stage. Had a go on a 12 metre, it's one mean MF Kite on power, huge air and hang time as well responsive turning for such a big Kite. Another thing I notice about this Kite is it drifts real well and does not drop.

As for Gaastra new bar set up, it is great with the desheet swivel setup above the Chicken Loop assembly that allows you to unfurl your centre lines after a few tricks by just pulling down on your bar which will force the centre lines and swivel to unfurl back to original. Most above chicken loop swivels seem that you have to manualy untwist the lines and on some like Ozones it is so difficult to do when the lines are under load. The only thing I know myself would need to get used to is the thicker bar (no I'm not Gheay, either if thats what some sickos out there reading this are thinking, you know who you are )

Had a go on the Jekyll 5 10.5 metre as well out in the surf in fairly light conditions and this kite is sooooo Sweet. It is very fast turning and allowed me at 90kg in the light conditions to build apparent wind no problem and continue to Kite on my TT where normaly I would have needed my 12 metre. It is smooth and very predictable, drifts well and has plenty of lift and hang time if you want to crank it up to 12 quickly.

I get the feeling the only reason we don't see more Gaastra Jekylls here is there is pretty well any non existant marketing, demos or hype surrounding them. But IMHO I think there right up there with the best of Hybrid Bow Kites.

Hi Lostinspace

Just bought the 8M today and had a play at dog beach near Scarborough, very fast kite thats all I can say so far, as I only had a go on sand.
Wind was around 12-14 knots, I'm 80kgs and I was lifted off the beach in THAT light wind! Drove home to VIC PARK(approx 10kms from coast) and it was an EASTERLY still blowing, oh to live in the western suburbs in PERTH!!

I'm off to the SW on Tuesday to test it out at Augusta, so I'll let you know how it went!
My other kite is a RRD 10.5M Hyper Type II so I'll compare them.

Hi Guys & Gals.

Finally test flew the Gaastra down at Augusta during the last 2 weeks.

I bought the 10.5M on the way down there and had the 8M on board..

Only had 2 days of kiting out of 10 and the 2 days were sweeeet as.

Only had the 10.5M up both days and WOW this kite rocks.

The second day I had the wind, it was 15- 20 KNTS then picked up to 25 - 35KNTS over the 5 hours I rode for and everyone was changing down to, GALS 4M and most guys 7-8M but I was still on the 10.5M and NOT over powered at all. Was doing my favorite speed runs as usual.

I'm 80KGS and was ring my Twin tip Shinn The MONK 128 board!

Boosted with NO effort!!

Great to hear CShot that you have found the Jekyll 5's to be such sweeeet kites to. We might just have to keep it our secret though as I see a few red thumbs appearing on our comments of no doubt those that lack the understanding of the ability and build quality these Kites. Shhhhhhhhhh
