Here is an unboxing vid of the 2012 Tempo, its shows how it comes to you and what is included with a brief rundown on the new hull shape, pads and straps for customers who want to see the new board from a different perspective.

spoiler - this is not an action vid!!! it is a run down of of my thoughts on opening up a new product and initial feelings, enjoy!

how would you compare 2011 and 2012 pads ?

No sound at work but i see you had a 2011 tempo at the start of the clip

dusta - last years straps were IMO just passable, they only just went small enough for my size 9 feet but worked ok. This years pads and straps are almost perfect!
They go down as small as my GF's very small feet and up to the largest feet i have seen. The adjustment gives you angle and size so you can really tune the straps to how you like them.
The pads are also much better, i have not played with the different inserts for the heel, im still running with the hard ones as standard. They are a little slippery to start off with but you will wear them in or put a little wax on them.

As for the board i have had a few sessions on it now and it seems to get going a little bit earlier than last seasons tempo with a little more of a locked in feeling when going through the chop. The 2011 tempo had a very skatey feel and you felt like you were on the edge of loosing it the whole time in chop, this years has not lost any of the amazing pop but feels more controlled.

For me i feel my favorite board has just even better and having the new pads and straps makes it a pleasure to ride all the time.

Hey Dan / guys, interested to know how the wave compares to the SS Fuse? I got the fuse before the wave came out. As I have a lump of muscle missing above my knee I prefer a mutant than a wave board as I can ride easily out of trouble on its nose without having to spend too much time ridling toe side.

I have found the fuse a great board, but lacks the volume I need to really cut the kite power and ride the wave. Love some comments on the wave from this perspective?

lucky i rang aks . apparently the 2012 pads don't fit on the 2011 boards . Thats **** as the 2011 pads really are POS .

Hopefully AKS can find a set of comfortable pads to go on my 2011 FR otherwise i'll have to sell it and either get a 2012 or another board.

Mate look for my extended review on this board from my posts. I love the board, and rides really well on the nose - infact planes upwind better than the other side. For small waves I get rid of the side thrusters and put in 50mm wake fins (same as front). Gives you a little more loosness and rides even better across the nose. on flat water i take the thruster out for wakestyle. In bigger surf go the full thrusters. very versatile, highly recommend it.

Hi Dusta, not sure who at AKS you where talking to, but the 2012 pads will go straight onto the 2011 boards no prob.

Cheers,
Dan

respectfully beg to differ.

my 2012 FX came with 2011 pads; my 2012 Wave with 2012 pads.

i swapped them.

i find the 2011 straps and the bigger pads suit toeside better, for twisting the feet, like.

granted, the 2012's may give a more locked-in ride suiting wakestyle, but imho the 2011's work better on both boards.

maybe i just got weird feet.

thanks for your opinion dogfigh . Maybe i will try playing around with them again . I can't put my finger on it but i just can;t get comfortable some days in the pads . Love my board though
