Any experienced riders ridden the 2012?

Looking at a 140 with boots.

How's the speed, pop and riding finless on it?

Who designed it?

Are they in store yet?

Cheers

You missed a question. Are they better quality than last years model?

Yer bro the base layer whould peel off and also cracking through the fin holes was a common problem(done both). As for the 2012 had a quick poke at one the other day and apart for a new base could not realy see any major changes.

Hi Will, having a decent number of hours on my 50fifty now I'd put it on your list too (unless you want to hit sliders). Compared to my 2010 custom it's faster, better upwind, edges better, more comfy through chop, pops at least as well (with footstraps at any rate), carves just as sweetly, and holds just as much if not more power at top end.

I rode it finless once at Altona and in the flat stuff it was fun, but in the chop it was too skatey (and that's coming from someone who likes small fins). The 35mm fins are more than grippy enough. If there was a smaller option I'd go for that but it's no big deal, I can still slide it around if I can't be bothered popping out.

The Nobile pads and straps don't work for me so I'm using syncs, but that's the only negative on an otherwise awesome board.

If the forecast holds I'll be at Brighton sometime Friday and Saturday. You're welcome to have a spin if you're there.

^^^ the 2011 feels quite different to the 2010 with even more rocker and deeper channels.

I am pretty sure they fixed the de-laminating after the first batch of 2011 boards but i cant be 100% on that.

+1 on the 50/50. Ive never ridden such a big board that doesnt feel like a big board. Try riding with just heelside 35mm fins in the flats. The things can butterslide for ever.

I've been on the Custom, boots and finless 100% for the last two seasons, and can't see any reason to change. Landings are super clean thanks to the rocker. I can get up-wind as well as any of the strappers. It just seems to work. Channels are slightly deeper this year, new base-layer, apparently new manufacturer (revert to the 2010 factory???). Warranty is solid. The 2012 feels a little stiffer, perhaps.
