looking for a new board for Perths less than ideal waves. Anyone ridden the 2011 5'8 celeritas and the 5'6 f-one fish? Just wondering how they compare for planing ability and which one is less prone to sliding out the tail. Yes i know they are both going to do it, just wondering which can hold on the longest. Mainly riding strapless unless it's getting up around 30 knots. Appreciate any feedback on both or either board.

Take a look at the north whip, awsome little board. It's a 5' 5" board with nearly the same outline as the celeratas only a little shorter.

I have bought the new celeritas and REALLY like it in the one long session I had with it so far. The tail does slide very nicely for my taste. Much more than I thought it would after trying the last years small version of the board.

Generally it feels great, is very fast and it is amazing how little wave is enough to keep the board gliding with only very little kite-pull.

I heard that the Slingshot surfboards are really hard to get ahold of right now. Anybody have any comment on availability? And definetly try the North Whip while you are demoing. Looks like the perfect weapon for Perth surf.

I ride the 2010 Celeritas strapless. I find I need HEAPS of back foot pressure to turn the board controllably, especially in stronger winds. Often I just can't get enough weight on the board/tail. (I'm 76kg less lift from kite at upper wind range). I've been thinking of getting smaller back fin. I would love to know how others control the board at high speeds in choppy water.

The board is a pleasure to ride in smoother conditions an very stable in the air.

Hi guys,

anymore feedback on Celeritas, please?
Especially I am interested in the power needed for turning, is it an issue in higher winds/speeds?

And also, is it easy to gybe or is it a skitterish board? I'm talking about going 100% strapless here.

Thanks!

I had a session on the 5'4" Celeritas when it 1st came out. It was a load of fun & turned really well at low speed, ie. snotty little waves. I decided it would be great as a light wind board, not as your main board. Any half decent surfing wave & you're travelling too fast for it, you just can't get that tail dug in for a hard turn.
cheers Col

To OMG
I stick by what I said. BUT if I had to replace my board, I would still replace it with the same board. There's always a compromise if you have only one board. I've learnt to depower the kite more for more control.

AUS126,

ok, thanks for the feedback. BTW, have you tried the board without the center fin like a twin?

And how do you find the jibing, is it an easy board to switch feet? I currently ride Naish 5'5" x 20" fish from 2007 and it is stable for jibing. My fear is that the Celeritas being 1.5 inches narrower it could be a hard to jibe? Maybe I'm just too cautious on it as I don't have the opportunity to test it, but I would like to hear feedback on what people think about it. I am 80kg and 190cm and like I wrote, all for strapless.
