Rider: 69kg. Level:Depends who you talk to?
Style: Surf
Weather: 25-30 knots, 2-3m swell
Board: surfboard
Location: Outer reefs north of Perth
Quiver: 10m and 4m Reo, 8m and 6m Catalyst.
Previous Kites: Naish Torch, Airush DNA, Core GT.
I am not affilliated with any retailer/supplier and am not a team rider.

After spending 2 hours on my 6m Cat fully lit and decided to give the 4m Reo a blast.
Previous threads have covered the build quality etc so I will give that part of the review a miss only to say that out of the bag this kite is SMALL ! and pumped up it doesnt look any bigger. The first thing you notice is that there are only 2 settings for bar pressure. + and - nothing in between. Understandable given that its a 4m kite. I had the kite set on the lightest bar pressure which I like and which all my kites are set.
Up in the air and at 12o'clock rock solid stable.
On the water and this kite is quick. Surprisingly quick compared to the 6m Cat I had just spent 2 hours riding. It didnt take long to get used to how quickly this kite responds to bar input. I was using the 45cm Contact bar that came with the 6m Cat. (IMO the contact bar ticks all the boxes for me. Above the bar trim cleat that is simple and unobtrusive and allows you to adjust on the run.) I managed to spend just over an hour on the 4m and was fully powered. Power delivery was smooth in the turn and it smoothed out the gusts. Dumped the kite in the surf once and it did a flip which at the time i thought was going to end my session with a self rescue. Pushed the bar out and it almost relaunched itself. On the waves this kite parks and rides better than the Cat. No need to trim the kite for park and ride. Straight out of the bag is good. On the wave you can set the kite and then forget. The Cat needed some minor tweeks as you are riding the wave.
The 4m Reo is a quick kite but it doesnt take long before you start and enjoy this kite.

i'm underpowered on my 6m reo until about 30knots. ok your 11kg lighter than me but surely your not full powered at 25-30 on a 4m?

BOM 4cast for the day was for 20-25knts.
At 1230pm it was more than 25knts but by how much ??
There are no live readings for lano but the live readings for rotto on the day which is roughly on the same longitude were 25-30knts with some gusts at 35knts.
So what do I call it??
Check out the Ozone wind range pdf for the Reo and Cat, 4m and 6m.
I was fully powered up on the 6m Cat with about 2" depower.
At the time I wasnt sure if it was windy enough for the 4m Reo but because it was there and it was crispy new I pumped it up just for fun.
I was powered up and had no problems heading upwind.
Impressive kite.
I am only 69kgs and yes I ride unstrapped.
So, how windy was it??? 25-30knts seemed to cover it for me on the day everything considered.
