Have been flying Ozone Catalysts for a year now and love them.

Tried back loops for the first time down at Woody's Point yesterday and found that the center lines would not untwist on their own; would have to twist the swivel manually whilst sailing along.

Does anybody find the same problem with these bars?

Does it matter that the center line remain twisted?

I guess after multiple backloop attempts the lines wold be twisted quite a way up from the bar.

Other kites I've used in the past have untwisted very easily.

Comments / advice most welcome.

Other than that love the kites.

The contact bar top hat does not unspin lines automatically, you just do it as you have, manually as you ride along.
Once I've launched I move my leash from the flag out line to the ring inside the chicken loop so that I can spin the top hat either way and don't have the leash wrapping.
Another option is to learn to loop/spin both ways.

It does not matter if the centre lines have several twists in them, the kite will still flag out in an emergency.

Got the same swivel on my Slingshot but does not work anymore. Any advice for the maintenance on this swivel?

They look the same but aren't.
With yours I would wash in warm to hot water and apply silicone spray.

No they are not the same, but they are very, very similar. Constant maintenance is the only way to keep these large swivels from seizing, and they will all sieze eventually. They all only work marginally and are a huge "face wacker" that sits above the bar and that also creates a tangle hazard during a relaunch or if the lines go slack in a luff.

The Ozone system, like several others where you manually unspin the front lines are the simplest and safest option, remember the KISS principle.
Any sort of bearing mixed with salt water and sand is a pretty silly idea I reckon.

I just loop the other way. do a down loop or back loop at your next tack. looping is fun anyway!.

Actually the only similarity is looks. I have seen the SS ones break but not the Mutiny.
Also I never maintain my swivel and it still works like the day I got it.
Last time I checked the swivel was too high up the bar to hit you in the face, this would apply threefold to somebody your height Steve

We demoed the Mutiny kite 2 years ago, the swivel is almost identical to the SS one, Ollie the designer came to the Corona with us, and he left us one of the kites, so we do know that the swivels are extremely similar.

We sell SS kites and I've never replaced a broken swivel. I've seen seized swivels on many brands (inc SS), but they can usually be freed up again with some Inox or WD40. You don't sell the SS kites but do sell the Mutiny, hmmm? How long have the Mutiny been on the market? Less than a year, so its a big call you are making and sounds like BS.

Never maintaining stuff/ Thats because you are a retailer, and sell your gear every year. Real world people do need to maintain their gear. You've also only had the Mutiny kites for less than a year I think, so hardly a real world comparison either.

The swivel smashed a customers hand once he is a surgeon, sold all his slingys and move to another brand - true story.
