Sorry S2A,

Perth wind is as sh1tty as the rest of the country at the moment. Not even much decent wind on the horizon Frustrating when you have exciting new toys.

Hang in there!

I just love my GT , and will be replacing my other kite with a new GTS when the time comes.
I’m just curious if the one-pump hoses between the leading edge and struts are a bigger diameter on the GTS? I’m not complaining, but they are quite small on the GT and getting the air out of the struts at the end of the day is a bit of chore compared to the other kites I’ve owned.
Is there anyone out there also of the opinion that the donkey dick on the core bar is a little too soft/flexible? I’ve had a number of occasions (mainly in very gusty or light wind conditions) where my chicken loop has basically slipped off my harness hook, and the kite then powers itself from 12 o’clock to the beach/water at a rapid rate of knots, attached by only the safety leash - I’ve been lucky that the kite hasn’t hit anyone so far . (The core bar has a huge trim strap, so there’s not so much de-power, and when the kite starts moving through the air quickly, there is quite a bit of pull in the kite even when the bar is completely released). To get around this issue, I’ve added a piece of clear plastic tube over the donkey dick, which gave it a bit more rigidity, and since then I’ve had no further ‘uncommanded’ chicken loop ejections from the harness hook. From what I’ve read in this thread, it looks like they are using the same bar, and no changes to the donkey dick, is this correct?

Hi Burls,

Yes the new GTS is wicked and as a GT lover, you'll be well impressed with the GTS. A few guys at the beach yesterday took the GTS 10m for a run in rather "up and down" wind and came in smiling.

No, there is no new bar design for the GTS, same bar as previous. If you had one of the earlier GT bars, the chicken dick was a bit short, this was reported to Core HQ and subsequent bars came with longer chicken dicks which made the issue of involuntary unhooking obselete. Your fix sounds fine.

Transfer tubes are same as previous models but nice and out of the way same as XR. GT was a little less tidy. The new bags make getting every cubic cm of air out of the struts a lot less critical as you can easily fit the kite in the bag with some air still in the struts as I did yesterday.

Sweet! All we need now is a nice 25 knot day to really "wind out" the full potential of the GTS.

The bar I received at the start of this year had a different donkey dick setup to my 2009 bar. Attached different (now spins around loop - previously fixed to the loop) and more rigid (due to an internal tubing inside the black tube). Otherwise the same.

Thanks Kitehard and Wisha.

I've got the 2009 bar with the fixed donkey dick, so it sounds like they have stiffened it up on the newer bars which is good news.

I saw the new Core GTS that Darren (AKS) was demoing down at Pinnaroo Point on the weekend (12/09). Who ever gave it a squirt I'd love to hear what you thought?

I tried to 2011Core GTS on Sunday at Pinnaroo..(thanks Darren). I'm an ordinary kiter so my comments needs to be considered not "expert" comments...
I found the kite very powerful (bloody germans) and very stable in the air...the wind was bit gusty but I didn't feel it too much; I use to ride the Vegas so I found the Core slower then my Vegas
The relunch was great.....i crushed the kite in the water and in few second it was ready to go in the lunching position...I didn't touch anything...
Overall.....very good kite.
Cheers

I took Kitehards GTS out for a spin in around 20kt winds this afternoon.
Its got miles of bottom end. It would easily math my 12 Riot in bottom end in a lot smaller kite. I was still out towards the end of the session when the wind had dropped off to about 14 Kts on a bigger board and everyone else had gone in.

Definatly one to watch for a good kite all round.

I did notice you do have to sheet out to prevent being dragged down wind once your up and going or edge quite hard.

Good match on the Sector board.
