Rider: Weight 90kg Level (intermediate)
Style: Surf

My Comments:
Hi Crew,

Im looking to renew my old 07 waroos 7 and 9mtrs .I love my 9 but am usally a bit over powered on my 6,4 surfboard and i hate my 7 as it is to on and off with the power plus a little to fast for my skill level so i was looking for something in between them to cut my quiver and cost down .Im looking for a kite that I can park and drift a little more than the old waroos that you had to fly alot more I dont want a kite to heavy on the bar. After doing some asking around the RPM 8mtr and the Kahoona 7.5 mtr seem to be what Im looking for if anyone has ridden both these kites in the surf I would love to hear your opinion on which is the best kite.

Just have the full range in store. The Waroos are quite different to your 07. Lots of talk about the Kahoona, but I have to try it out myself yet. Hopefully tomorrow morning!

If riding surf board, why don't you go for something like the RRD Religion?

The Kahoona is a delta kite = easy park and ride kite
Isn't the RPM a semi freestyle kite?

Hi Jiggler have ridden both in bigger sizes, on flat water and surf although mainly with twin tip .The rpm 8 is one of my favorite kites in the surf as the fast turning, light bar pressure, and its easy of control in stronger conditions make it lots of fun and i have a lot of freinds riding surf boards with this kite too . But still the kuhuna in the 11.5 which is what ive ridden is exellent in light wind and dosent seem to get overpowered to quickly, it isnt too slow and ive ridden, this one with a surfboard a fair bit has a totaly different timing to the rpm, but once your use to it you will find it really dependable super easy relaunch, park and ride style ,lots of boost and hang time. But i havnt ridden the 7.5 in this, So which is better i cant say. But can say both are heaps better than your warroo 07 7mtr that thing was to sensitive and unrealiable where as your 9 wasnt a bad kite .
Have fun
George

thanks guys for the info im heading down to perth for a few days from sunny exmouth wa so will hopefully get to demo both kites plus try and organize a ride on the religion to get a feel for them Im still swaying towards the Kahoona as I already have a good best bar and lines that will suit saving me some coin but will spend the extra if the rpm is the one does anyone know of shops to demo these kites from except from choices shop at hamy hill.

rpm rocks. sets up so many ways . super stable, adjustable bar presure, super stable in the air .never inverts .the best relaunch. direct steering no pullies on the rear lines.turns on a dime. purfect for the surf and also boosts huge.
you can tell i`m not a fan at all.

I still havent managed to try the 8mtr rpm yet but did get to fly the 6 and the 10 the other day . I loved the smooth power delivery very nice in the gusty conditions and didnt scream across the window like my 7mtr waroo but the 6 did seem to lack some balls as it was blowing up to 30 kts and still had the kite fully powered up on my surfboard and still having to throw the kite around to generate power in sight lulls were as on the 7 waroo i would be 3/4 depowered I know there is a metre difference but it seemed alot more than this it could just be that I dont know how to rig and trim this kite properly but im starting to wonder if an 8 will have enough grunt for my fat guts . If anyone has ridden the 7.5 kahoona and the 8 rpm how do they compare in the bottom end grunt department Im guessing the 7.5 is grunter from reading a few blogs does anyone know of any kahoona demos in perth as choices shop doesnt have any

20knots plus i use the 6m all the time with surfboard , great kite for unhooking in cross shore conditions.
