Beside the usual bland generic comments on some dealer sites, is anything known of the 2010 Airush converse.

I norminally ride twin tips and have only been occasionally riding an old thruster and enjoy the surfboard feeling. And having used to surf years ago love the look of the 2009 Converse... can't get hold of one though.

So if anyone has some insight to the 2010 one it would be great

Hey bobajob,

I have the new 2010 6'2" in my demo fleet and am itching to try it in some decent waves. The board looks stunning and beautifully finished. Lots of nice touches like the adjustable fin inserts so you can move the fins back or forth to suit style.

I was going to go the 6' Converse to keep in line with our demo North surfboards, but it looked so small, thin and gunny with fair amount of concave and rocker and almost no toe in on the fins. It looked to me like it might have been a big wave speed needle or a super lightweights surfy so I went with the 6'2" instead which looked more like the sort of board that'd work for most folks in Perth.

Pads look good but are lifting slightly around the edges already before it's been used (maybe from heat in truck????). Footstraps are basic and similar to previous years, they look pretty and design is functional but could be improved (No adjustment without screwdriver).

Fins look good, glass not plastic! This makes me happy, I hate plastic FCS fins, they're crap IMHO. If you like FCS system you'll be pleased, if you're like me and prefer Future fins system, you wont be.

When I get a chance I'll write up my thoughts after a decent test ride like you say, without the usual shop/manufacturer drivvle.

Cheers mate,

KH

Hi

I have had the 6'4" for a couple of weeks now and am very happy with it.
I am 85 kg and was able to paddle it into waves easily and once up it generates plenty of speed and is nice and loose .

As for kiting it will turn tight radius bottom turns and is very predictable off the top . Board is easy to control but still very lively and responds well to being ridden aggressively .

Personally I love the foot straps . Not having any adjustment straps in them makes them soft and they fit around your foot very comfortably . Lousy for a demo board but for personal use you usually only set the straps once anyway .

Haven't had any issues with the tail pad and have chosen not to use the the front one only because I want to surf it as well . It does look good though .

This board is great for riding from rail to rail and carving hard yet it has enough volume for paddle surfing and has good light wind capabilities .
It is a similar style of board as the 6'0 but for my weight I find I don't need as much of the kite power and have the bonus of being able to paddle surf it .

I am a team rider for Airush so I don't really ride many other brands boards . Am very happy to recommend this board though .
