Will there be an upgrade for the 2010 bar. I quite like the idea of the recoil system... Maybe even try looking for a similar spring?
With so many Cabrinha kites destroyed by trees, there is always a market where you will find second hand bars.
They have a spring on there bar
WTF for.
A good upgrade would be to stop ridding ****.![]()
WTF would i want to do that.
There the softest kite on the market and advertised to appeal to kooks.
NKA, biach
But if at the end of the day if it helps you get out there and enjoy the sport then do it. Once your skills develop you will want to try other gear to progress in the sport. Or if your on other gear and found you really sucked then you may benefit from flying a Crapenha kite.
What are they made from this year, i have looked at a lot of the 2011 kites and Cab look to have the cheapest material they could get with one of the ****iest looks out of all of the kites. They have never been known to not last long so i suppose it doest matter.
I cant see the point of the spring, most of the kooks wear a seat harness any way, so reach shouldn't be a issue.
NKA
The spring is great.
I am one of those shorties you mentioned.
I can float, fix my hair and the kite stays where it is, it kind of balances itself on the spring.
Not only that but when you unhook and let go of the bar, it doesn't sheet out really quickly which in the past causes some kites to invert.
If you really want to know, take out a demo. Kitepower have them in now.
Only those that can tame the Cabrinha beast, can keep it on its leash and out of a tree ;P
mmm, all good point's but i don't need to let go of the bar and fix my hair, and dont know why you are unhooking and letting go of the bar, inverting doesn't sound good.
But if you think the kite is a beast, then it is definitely for you.
You do know that most kite manufactures can get the same amount of depower without having 2meters of bar throw.
I am unhooking in the HOPE that I can hook back in. Working on it. Every bit helps.
Dont you care about how you look when you ride?![]()

No, plus i don't have any hair.
Hooking back in would be easier on a different kite. Other things that would help would be to ride faster pop harder don't slow down to de power the kite to unhook, a good kite should be able to unhook with the same power you are ridding with. Dont send the kite to lunch, keep it down and parked.
One that no one has seen and doesn't know where to get it from.![]()
If you have short arms maybe try the SS bar with below the bar depower. Or choose a kite that better suits you.
Hey eeeZee,
the 2011 Cab bar is the best Cab bar ever i reckon. Feels great in your hands!
The spring works very good and can easily be added to 2010 or 2009 bar.
you think a new bar feels good in your hands, gay.![]()
The whole point of bringing out a new kite is to make it better so for nearly every brand it goes without saying the bar is better, the kite is better and it comes with a new improved pump.![]()
I dont think i have seen to many people unhook on a Cab to do a raily, i have seen a lot of gailys though.
I have had the priveledge to demo the 2011 kites from most of the major brands.
I bought a new kite from a major brand only last year and already the trim line looks like it needs replacing. The idea of having that hose around the trim line on the cabrinha bar is an excellent idea, unfortunately it meant that the stopper ball wouldn't stay down when the bar pushed up with alot of pressure. Being a girl and not having as long arms as some, this was a problem for me.
I have a new 2011 switchblade and the spring system on the stopper works fantastic. It still allows the bar to push up all the way when there is a lot of pressure and you need the extra depower, but otherwise the bar stays within easy reach.
Were they at the state titles, didn't see any women ridding cabs. There were some there unhooking though on other kites.
When you say you have tried the major brands of kites i assume you are talking best, fone, flexifoil, slingshot, nobile and cabrinha
Or are we just talking cabrinha, north, naish and slingshot.
I would think the second list would be more accurate.
I could stay up and bag Cabrinhas all night long, Dre could ride any kite he likes and make it look good as he just keeps filming until it all works then cut and shut and you have a new vid. with 1 min 30 of ridding in it. In past years i have seen Dre ride a lot better, he has definitely got his own unique style now but how long are Cabrinha going to keep supporting him, i thought Ben Willson would ride for Slingshot forever but things change. If you buy a kite because you think it will make you ride like Dre then get out there and do it.
BigeeeZeee,
yeah i hear there is an upgrade kit for the 2010 bar which is very cool for those that want the spring option. For some riders I think the spring setup is going to be that missing link, and for other riders the 2010 bar setup will be preferred. The more I ride with the 2011 bar the more I like the spring setup. For wave riding I am still slightly for the 2010 setup as I like the extra throw which I feel is needed with the SB. The 2011 bar is a nice improvement over the 2010, even though the 2010 bar is very good.
waxman, what brand of kites do you ride?
Im only a newb and when I grow up I want to be as cool as you...
I think part of the problem is that the man of wax hasn't been riding at all lately (recall a post about a broken foot?) and is perhaps a bit frustrated and flailing around at easy targets.
This said, there seems to be the occasional bit of playfulness, sarcasm and other not so serious elements in his posts, which suggests he may be mellowing a bit???
I'm not liking the spring at all on the 2011 switchblade, so may remove mine. I notice they now have a video on cabrinha site how to remove it, so I'm not the only one. Does anyone know if the 2010 pro kit fits the 2011 recoil bar; and if there is a fixed or sliding stopper I can fit when the spring is removed.
