Just took the 11m Nomad (Which we've named 'Ranga") for a ride yesterday arvo. Also woke up this morning to 25 knots so couldn't miss the opportunity to take the 9m for a spin :-)

It's really fast - 11m would be very nice as a light wind wave kite - plenty of depower, good bar feedback and both are brilliant unhooked... I've now swapped the 9m to it's slow setting as I found it a bit quick.

Here's some detailed photo's for everyone :) Kitepower has a 9m and 11m for Demo now, and a 10m Crossbow IDSX if anyone wants a ride!!!

Whats with the Nomad bag! PAIN - They do not expand for a strut rolled kite! I had to fold my nice clean new kite on the sand today just to put it in its bag, now its full of sand. This would not happen if I could just bag it strut rolled.

Cabrinha have always had expandable bags - they have stuffed up with this one.

They thought it made the bag too bulky and complicated and only a small number of users actually left their struts inflated.
The sprint inflation system does make it pretty easy to inflate and deflate a kite doesn't it?

Surely your kite would have had sand on it even if you had left struts inflated? Maybe you could have deflated and packed your kite where there was no sand? It is possible to still leave the struts infalted and just put the compression strap that comes with the kite, around the kite, or use your harness to stop it unrolling??

I have the Switchblade 3 and the bag for that kite is excellent. The extensions are built into the main bag and accessed using zips.

Even with the kite fully deflated and packed, it's nice to drop the packed up kite into the top extension and let it slide into the main bag. It's just like having a funnel built into the bag.

I very rarely leave my struts inflated, usually only if the kite is wet and there's nowhere clean to pack up. It's nice to be able to simply open out the zips and pop the kite in so that I don't get gunk all over the inside of my car. I hate hate hate it when they give you a separate long bag. It's one more thing to carry around and store and pack and generally **** around with.

Yes steve there are a number ofworkarounds which all bring extra disadvantages.

My quiver fits nicely strut rolled in my car. So I have never even wanted to fold up my kites. While sliding in and out of the car my kites need the protection of being bagged.

You can strut roll and bag a kite while still standing up so as not to get sand on it. Maybe my folding tequnique is terrible , but as soon as you layout your kite on the beach to fold sand sticks to the bottom and gets sand all through it, and thats before you ut weight on it to get all the air out. If you always had a grassed area(unlike my spots) this would not be an issue.

My other issue with this is time, its another few minutes to the packup EVERY session. I reguarly sneak out at lunch for kite. So I don't get fired I have to be very strict with the time I get off the water, which will now be a few minutes earlier . Full pack down = less time on the water(even if it is only minutes)

For me I am annoyed that Cabrinha provided a bag that suited everyone for 04,05,06,07,08,09 but decided that in 2010 they would forget about the MANY of us who use the extendable bag.

As for me, my new nomad is now in one of my 08 bags. Not sure what to do when I sell it.

- As for the kite, So far very impressed can't wait to get it in stronger wind.

I am very impressed by the construction, looks like a very tough kite with lots of dacron and tough LE.The canopy material feels quite different to other kites and feels like good quality.

Must say that the bag is a bit too small for the kite, even though it was a 9m, do the bag sizes change for the larger sizes?

Cheers

Cabrinha seemed to be obsessed with making the bag as small as possible the last few years. The first xbow had a decent size bag but since then it's origami black belts only.

My kites look worse for wear due to the poxy bags, maybe they like to store their kites in the glove compartment on Maui

from cabrinha:
"Aloha David,

Sorry for slow response. Not intentional. Just having some server issues on our end.

The new 2010 kite bags are not expandable. This was changed due to the fact the the overwhelming majority of our customers do not use this function. However, due to requests from certain distributors, we are now making exandable bags for your new kites. These will be available through any authorized Cabrinha dealer for a small fee to those select riders that prefer to leave struts inflated. Please note that Cabrinha does not recommend storing your kites this way for extended periods of time. This can damage the internal bladders. For maximum longevity, we recommend that kite are put away clean and dry and stored in a cool dry place in the supplied bag."

Good to hear I am not the only one
