I'm an intermediate 74kg rider (mostly around Perth metro, with the odd trip to somewhere more exciting).
I plan to get one of the above boards, but I'm not sure which. I haven't been able to demo either board so would be keen to hear from anyone who has ridden one or both.
RRD is 5'8" by 18inch wide and 2.5inch thick
North is 5'8" by 17.75inch wide and 2inch thick

Both should be available for demo at SOS. The WAM is available all over but I'm not sure if there are any RRD dealers than SOS. I've always been treated really well there.

I have the 2010 5 '10" Wam I have had this board for over a year now still looking as good as new. With a far bit of uses I have let other riders have a go all have said how good the board is in the waves. Well made great foot strappes soft on the tops of my feet.Handles flying off the back of waves great strong board.Hope this helps
Hey mate, I have a 5'8" 2011 WAM, must say i am very happy with it...has good low & top end and with the 4 or 3 fin configuration very versatile, just a good all-rounder.
Haven't tried the fatal wave I think it's got 3 fin box. I went for the 5'10" wam tried others felt good soon as I rode it . with the option of quad or thruster is great. They are very hard to come by in WA got mine from ocean addicts in the box 4 days from Qld to Perth no freight charged I was stoked great board rapped

Everyone I've spoken to has only had good things to say about the WAM. Would be keen to hear from a few fatal wave riders... doesn't seem to be too many of them in Oz by the look of things.

I have a WAM 5'10" (I'm 88kg) and think its a good allrounder, for small waves and light winds. It's fun to change the 5 fin set up, and its a solid epoxy construction.
I have heard the fatal wave is a bit more responsive due to the pulled in tail, but maybe less durable as its polyester - though a heavy glass job.

If I could I would.The 5'8" WAM is an excellent board.Have tryed several other quad boards and was't impressed.Being 90kg was suprised by the lightwind ability of the board wouldn't go bigger myself.Kym at GSS has one and tryed as a thruster set up but says it is a better quad board.I would own one tomorrow if he had one.

I think I have the last 5'10" WAM in WA as far as I know. It was brought in as a spare in a special airfreight I did for 6 other customers. I also brought in a spare 6' WAM but it sold within 30 minutes of arriving in the shop.
They are a great board, no doubt!

I weight about 70kgs and have had both sizes. They are awesome boards and perform well at the local beaches - everyone who has tried mine has liked it. They smooth out choppy conditions and have good speed for the bigger days at those other places. I tend to ride without the straps and the deck grip works better than wax - the board just seems to land beneath you after hitting the lip. I prefer using thruster combo rather than quad but it's great to have the option. I usually break my boards but these seem to stay as new - touch wood
hi, I have a 5'8" RRD not sure if its fatal (too lazy to read the logos), but its white with black trim skulls on it, reenforced fibreglass. I cant speak for the WAM as never tried it altho the reports are very positve on the WAM from this thread.
Anyway, i used to ride an old surfboard til i trashed it, so got the RRD from SOS (gave me a good deal) and its sick! downwinders in any size, since i'm a surfer and love top to bottom surfing, this board really drives and holds thru the fastest high tension bottom turns! just come flying from out the back into the shorebreak, spot a smooth area and lay the hardest, horizontal body forehand bottom turn and launch straight into the unsuspecting wave behind whaaaaack! back down again and into the next.... never dreamed of such roosters! yep, gotta love these winter Norwesterlies with no one around!
