My Comments:
Bought my new board last weekend - a LF Recoil Comp 137x41 (thanks Padi). Had a chance to try it yesterday (skived off work early). Wind was 18-20, so originally pumped up my 06 Fuel 13m, but it had developed a hole in the centre strut![]()
Grabbed the 9m 06 fuel instead, thinking at least I'd be able to get on the water, if a little underpowered (I was coming off an e-bay special Best Pro Limited 130x40.5). What a shock - the Comp was flying no problem! The Best was my first real board, so I had no idea what to expect, but the Comp certainly made me wish I'd got onto it earlier.
Upwind ability was phenomenal - wind was NNE on the virtually n-s Sandgate beach, and I could easily track parallel to the beach in the smooth water.
The board felt much "looser" than the Best, but once I got the hang of it, it felt beautiful, and the comp lace straps/pads are incredibly comfortable. The board felt really smooth over the chop too, which may be because of the flex. No spray in the face either.
Can't really comment on the pop, as I'm too hopeless, but I over-rotated a couple of backloop attempts which to me would be a good sign.
All in all, after 1 session I'm very happy with the board. Kept thinking I should go in, but was so stoked, I kept going until nearly dark. Can't wait to try it again (tomorrow?), and maybe to give it a go in the waves.
Glad to be at service mate. The Recoil Comp is my all time favourite too. Superlight weight, sharp thin rails (3mm) it is the most technically advanced freestyle board as Moehau Goold describes.
Great choice of board.
I ride a 134x40 2008 recoil comp. They power upwind sooo good hey. in really light wind days, im one of the very few people out that is flying upwind no probs at all. When the wind is cranking, these boards lock in great to manage ya speed. Only negative i have is i get sprayed a bit in the choppy conditions i ride. This may be due to the wide stance i have it set on and i like riding fairly even foot pressure, so the bottom tip of the nose is always less than an inch from the water. In light wind days, spray is minimal. Yeah, the lace straps are comfy as...![]()

I ride the Recoil Comp 134 with my HiFi Comp and what a combo it is. Super light weight, sharp rails I can cut upwind higher than most without much effort. Pops easy as. Kiting has never been more enjoyable! Only downfall is being black its a bit hard to spot on the water when you lose it!
I demoed a heap of boards and fell in love with the 137 recoil comp. Its just so fast.. It skips across the water instead of pushing heaps. hard to explain. It still digs in good when wanted though. I love it. It planes real early in light wind and handles chop really well but is at its best on flat water. Its definitely more fun for me than any other board I tried. I ride beach breaks on nsw qld boarder and occasionally score good wind with flat water. Its exactly what i want in a board. So light and fast.
I'm ridding the 08 liquid Force Recoil Comp 137 that i got from Padi of Surfconnect. Awesome board! Great up wind performance & good pop, super smooth ride & great hold with the Liquid Force lace Comp straps. Super stoked
with this board so I'm sure any 1 with the 09 Recoil Comp should be stoked,it is a bit more refined!
Cheers & thanks for the excellent service Padi (Surfconnect)
Happy safe Kiteboarding peeps!
