Had my first session on this puppy the other day in some nice 20-25knot n/w at perths premier secret flat water spot.

out of the box the board has a quality finish, certainly a step up from slingshot this year. I believe they are using some 2500dpi printing technology to give better resolution on the graphics. Graphics not everyones cup of tea but appealing to me!

Design.
Very similar tip design to the response wakeboard from slingshot, an even taper from basically full thickness starting about 15cm from the tips. Tips are fairly soft, midsection of board is stiff by todays standards. Rails are thin (~4.5mm) and are stepped down from the core (board about 10mm thick) about 1.5cm from the edge of the board. Board has a mild single concave (about 3mm) that starts about 5cm in from the rails and about 15cm from the tips. Rocker, one could say a small extreme 3 stage, mid section is very very flat through to the footpads, where tips begin to taper is where the rocker kicks in. Outline is very square, a rectangle with rounded tips. Fins are big ~5.5cm and high aspect, but do not have an overly large surface area, more like mutant or wave twintip fins, odd!

On the Water.
Sits high on the water with the low rocker and a very mild concave. Doesn't have a great deal of drag seems to be fairly free although at 129*39 it is a board that requires a bit of juice. I wasnt really paying to much attention to its upwind/chop handeling/etc ability, i will comment when i get more of a ride. What i did get to test it on is some small catch me's and some airs.

wow this board is fricken sick! Took all landings comfortably and it wasnt butter either. A lot of landings with some pace and a few hard landings. Very easy to control, wide stance on this board helps alot i found. A few nervy moment ridingh fast out of a loop in pretty choppy conditions, with a board like this with very little rocker i was concerned but no dramas. The low rocker means the board sits high on the water and with most of the rocker in the tips the tips act like flip tips. Very impressive.

comming from an 07 666 132, i will miss the low end ability, the 666 is really a magical board with a huge range. But i think in terms of landing and control in rougher conditions the lunacy has it covered. We will see, so far im happy. Try one, at $999 complete they are a bargain!

in Perth try either

Hey i got to give the lunacy a real test at dolls point on the weekend, wow I haven't riden narly chop like we got whne the wind turned and still been happy.. I had no probs planning in lulls or holding when the wind really gusted up. I was surprised I hammered upwind without the spray in the face I have gotten from other boards in the past. so happy is definetly my new board for 08

i hated it at first and then 10 min later i was very happy with it, that was probably because i was trying a new kite and new board at the same time.
its very loose and responsive but seems to want to stay in the right place.
Landings were soft but i felt very sketchy on take off, i would attribute that to how its got a different rocker to what i normally use.
once up at speed its good for up wind.

really smooth in the chop, felt like a knife cutting through the waves.

the back is very efficient and doesn't create a hole behind you that i think is the main cause of drag in other boards.

this board is seriously heaven from the moment i stepped on it i was stoked. super smooth through the chop and waves, super light on my feet and huge pop with minimal effort and for a board that is quite a bit smaller than what im used to it doesnt feel small on my feet and performs better in lighter winds that my other boards.
best board of 08 i would almost have to say
