I'M A FREESTYLE/NEWSCHOOL RIDER, I'VE BEEN KITING FOR A LITTLE OVER 6 MONTHS, CAN DO RALEYS N BACKROLLS, JUST LEARNED SURFACE PASSES, LEARNING TO RIDE BLIND, I AM REALLY KEEN ON GETTING AN 08 VEGAS, I CURRENTLY RIDE A 9M REV.
I HAVE HEARD THAT THE POWER IN A 10M VEGAS IS ACTUALLY EQUAL TO A 8M SWITCHBLADE3, WHICH IS EQUAL TO A 9M REV. I WEIGH APROX. 50KG AND CAN'T DECIDE TO GET A 9 OR 10M VEGAS. I LOVE TO HAVE PLENTY OF POWER BUT NOT TOO MUCH. IM THINKING THAT I WONT BE ABLE TO GO OVER 18KNOTS OR SO WITH THE 10, BUT WITH THE 9 I DONT WANNA HAVE TOO LITTLE POWER, (ATLEAST WANT THE KITE TO GET ME GOING IN 13KNOTS AND HANDLE UP TO ABOUT 23KNOTS.) HOPE SOMEONE CAN HELP

THANKS FOR THE HELP SO FAR. KEEP IT COMIN`!!!!

hey aden

i am also 50 kgs and have a 10m switchblade which does me from 10-23 knots, but cant unhook well atall in 23 knots. i then have a 6m which i will use from 18-35 knots. i reckon that a 9 meter vagas would be really good but your rev should still be perfect.

Aden i'm pretty sure you should go the 9m because in 20-25 knots on a 10m you wont be able to unhook well at all, and i am also 50kg's so i would know (i hope) and i ride switchblades which have more depower than vagases.

I used to ride sb3's and dont really like the feel of them, i would prefer to get a c-kite as they excell in freestyle performance. (and dont start telling me about how australias freestyle junior champ rides them, because i ride with him.)

BTW, Ewan, didnt you have a forum about the vegas, as you where thinking about getting one??

yeh i was thinking about getting one but i much prefer the switchblades and they work for me, for freestyle/wakestyle, waves, big air/kiteloops and they have loads of depower, which is important for me as i am light.

the rev is pretty good for unhooked, so i dont know why you r selling it. try GK kites they are good bow kites for unhooking aswell.

ADEN, what is the most common wind where you kite? if the average is 17-20 knots definatly go for the 9 but if the average is 15-17 go the 10.

HI EWAN, IN WINTER - **** SEASON, THE WIND AVERAGES FROM 10 - 25.
IN SUMMER - GOOD SEASON, THE WIND IS LIKE 15 - 40.

I'VE DECIDED TO STAY AWAY FROM C-KITES AND WILL GO TO MY LOCAL SHOP WHEN WIND IS UP, AND DEMO THE F-ONE BANDIT AND THE BANDIT DOS, N TRY OTHER KITES N STUFF. I HAVE ALWAYS LIKED F-ONE, AND IT'S A DELTA-C LIKE THE EVO, I LOVED THE EVO, BUT WOULD PROBABLY PREFER THE BANDIT AS THE EVO IS MORE OF A FREERIDE KITE.

THANKS AGAIN EWAN!

dont know how ud like the bandit.. its a grunty as hell kite, the 7.5 had me unhooked in 20 knots - 25 max and i was 76kg back then aswell...

a kite thats designed for wakestyle and is a depowerable SLE is the LF Havoc. i flew the 09 and it is INSANELY SMOOTHE i was on the 8m when the charts said consistant 32 - 34 with gusts up to 37 and this is recently wen im around the 72 74 mark..

its a smooth kite good for park it wakestyle, the new Hifis are just as good for wakestyle and even better for freestyle like kiteloops and stuff... they depower more than enough i had a 9m and 7m and rode my 9m most up to about 26 knots before i decided to start switching to the 7 and they are nice and stable and i hear the 09s are even more stable. just go and try what you can find...

SB3 or Havoc for bridled SLE wakestyle
Hifi or hifi comps for 5 line safety and better performance more direct feel more pop and same amount of on tap depower.

hi aden, to be a bit more specific on the vegas, i tried two kites on the day, to demo the switchblade3 8 meter kite and a 10 meter vegas, the vegas had same power but not more (ie not over powered) than the switchblade that was two meters smaller in size,

i liked the vegas more out of the two kites on the day far better to ride for me.

had as much rideable depower but the difference is that when stomping down the board it would ride so far forward as well that gives it more options to depower where as the switchblade for me was more the pull bar out only depower option , on the day it was just pulling like a truck. this could of been how the kite was set up, i personally found the bar pressure to be too high for my tastes.

one of the biggest advantages of the vegas (i cant comment on the switchblade for this as had only one fly of it) is that the vegas is so stable in the sky, its never luffed or Hindenburg when the lines have gone slack (i play in waves mostly) when on the occasions i have ridden too far forward of the kite and under the lines - kite just flies back into the window. i don't wakestyle but i am led to believe thats an important trait to have in the kite when unhooking to get some twang in the pop and not constant pull to perform and complete an unhooked trick.

i think the biggest disadvantage the vegas has over some of the hybrids and bows is relaunch speed but the advantage is your running off a fifth line and not reliant on bridles and pulleys

anyhow try the kite and the other brands as mentioned its all personal taste and i think theres many misconceptions now days about c kites depower and ease of use.. i own the north 12 meter rebel, 15 meter flysurfer speed2 and a 7 meter slingshot rev out of those kites the vegas is the best in class.

Thanks alot cwamit, thats great help. i dunno if ive said this before but im going to stay with bows/deltas ect.. i really like the bandit as it is real grunty and has great low end, and most of all i can use it all year round (in winter-on open beaches) as it has great realaunch, and it only has 4-lines. i definately wanna try the vegas but no-one has demos of them, i can try a 7m 06 fuel when it picks up.
thanks again,
. ADEN .
