Times tested: 6-10
Range: 8kn to 25kn
Good: Exceptional height and hang, very wide wind range, heaps of depower, has no pulleys anyware, good relaunch, easy to self launch and land, one of the flatest kites on the market, bar feel can be changed by tweaking the bridals. It also does not have the backstall problem that some flat kites have.
Bad: May turn a tad slow for some kiters, perfect for me, but apparently can be changed on bridals. Also stuffs up social/family life the result of a renewed kiting addiction!!
Review: The 2008 hydra V3 is one of the sweetest kites I have used. I have used it from 8-25 knts. without having to pull on any depower strap. The wind range is outstanding. It seems like the top end will be the same as my 8m sonic, about 30 knts, for my 65kg, but I haven,t tested that yet. My mate (80kg) used his 12m in 35kns and was comfortable, This kite might just be a 1 kite quiver for me. I was using it in 10-14 knts yesterday and was pulling 4-5m jumps with good hang (was solid wind). It has a very clean bar set up, the usual safety leash attachment points, a nice large fully bevelled center hole for the poly sleaved chook rope, (no rope to wear out), and a simple jamming stopper ball. The kite build quallity is second to none, Genetrix use the best materials available. There is no 'one pump' but all struts have stopper valves.
