Best Kiteboardings R&D team have been working on a new Delta style kite for a while now, and this morning I am greeted with an email to say that the new Kahoona demos will be leaving the factory set for Oz.

After many internal emails from sales reps, R&D and riders from Best all over the globe, the excitement generated about this kite is similar to that of the Waroo in 2006.

Peter Steiwe, Best Kiteboarding's head designer and his crew of professional riders, have applied all their efforts into designing what they say is the best wave riding kite that the company has produced yet. Like all wave riding kites, it is ideal for beginner to intermediate riders also.

I will know more in the next couple of weeks when we recieve the demos in. Rumour has it tho, that there is a Kahoona pre production model in WA some where being tested now. Ill track it down...

It's just that it takes Peter Steiwe that long to develop the pictures of the copied original. Maybe all the time he spends on internet looking for gullible females to give him an excuse for staying in Australia.

I thought Fone had the patent for the delta shape kite, Best need to pull something out of the bag as I have found their evolution to be pretty minimal over the last 3 years.....
Ride the Dos 2 first - It is the benchmark for 09, after test riding numerous kites I believe it is in a league of its own

Its the benchmark.......All manufactures claim greatness an the next best thing since sliced bread and they are. bring on the copies an tweaking the designs Its all good for us riders, look an learn off each others mistakes an make me a better kite each year,I am pretty stoked with the waroo's evolution IMHO

so what if the "kite designers" only use 3 or 4 hours of "design" time to (cough) tweak (cough) a copied kite design, thats hardly evolutionary.

guys, no one has flown this kite in Oz yet, so we dont know what its like. As we have seen over the years, competition between Kite companies is becomming more and more cut throat, and they all seem to use each others designs to some degree, but they add their own input.

Im sure the Best Kahoona, as similar as it may look to some other brands, will most likely be more affordable then the other brands by alot, and if anyone has followed the progress of the company, then you will know how well the kites are constructed, and how good the warranty program is because of this confidence.

I personally love the Bandit, and sell them through my store, along with many other brands, but if Best produce a kite that is ust as good, but better on the wallet, then im all over it.

gee so much negativity without even seeing or flying it.... a bit harsh- Love the DOS (delta C) but have to admit they're a bit steep when it comes to price- if best makes something similar but cheaper, why not!?

Let us know when the kite's here in mackay for a spin Joe- any idea on sizing yet?
