I got a demo 6m Havoc today,
From what i can see it looks like a very solid construction.
- The struts are back to the good old method of having a lot of circular panels, not the 2 strips like m80's had that exploded.
- Very thin struts, even for a 6m kite...
- Heaps of protective panels etc
- Nice Graphics :)
- Simple Bridals
- S.M.A.R.T Inflation valves, One in the middle of the LE to pump up, then when deflating, walk to the tip of the kite and let the deflate valve out, (no more pulling the deflate valve in the middle, then hurrying to grab the tip of the kite so it sits downwind to roll up)
- really cool new bag design, zip all the way down one side, board carrier, plastic pouch for stuff...

Other things i noticed was that its got quite an arc... almost C kite, but the LE projects a long way forward of the wingtips.

The back lines are also pretty funky, it sheets from the front bridal kinda... Would like to see what happens if another pulley was added somewhere, but shall get back to you all on that one.... flying it tomorow hopefully, little bro will ride it this weekend provided we get a steady 15 knots...

okies, got a good fly of it yesterday on the beach, my little bro took it out for 30mins in a squall...

from what i could see when i was flying it... it has no bar pressure.... i was freakin out cos i couldnt really feel what the kite was doin, this might have been due to the fact there was only 20 knots when i had it up though... however.... my bro had it out in around 25 knots and said the same thing, he had no pressure at all, even when floating down from jumps etc...

you can really see the tips flare, good for newbies learnign to trim the kite i spose...

Turns the exact same speed as my 2m trainer.... yeah i know its a 6m but hey... we got it to basically pivit around the centre of the kite when looping... there would of been like a 1m turning radius at max...

This thing is STABLE.... 3 of us flew it, me, josh and padi.... each of us fly's waroos, and it was more stable than 9, 12, and 14m waroo's.... was gooooooood :-) very handy for newbies...

ok, on the water... just to fill everyone in... my brother josh is 14, hes been kiting a year and has flown a hell of a lot of different kites.... id say hes an intermediate rider.. he was riding an 05 Liquid Force Element 128 at the time... he weighs 45kgs

He was impressed with most aspects of the kite.... he was a little underpowered sometimes but it was a gusty cross-offshore SW'er so meh.

He said the turning speed was insane, but once you parked it, it sat there and just tracked beautifully with very little input. It was very much like a C kite once powered, you know how you can let the bar go and it will very slowly fall to the water? he did that with the havoc, same speed as m80's etc... (we use a stopper ball so no depower thing)

Jumping and hangtime was psyco lol... on his first run he hit a little wave and sent it...we heard him squeal from the beach lol he hung there for ages then was too scared to do it again, and hes no stranger to big jumps...

Depower wise it was unique.... let the bar out and you have no power... but the thing still turns!!!!! i couldnt believe it when i was flying it, its a weird feeling but yeah. Its not the full speed turning of course, but you can still control it, i was very impressed with this as its my main dislike with all kites... It had more depower than a waroo, assault and crossbow (only bows ive flown) as well, (i was just putting it thru the window to try that, confirmed by josh on the water though...

ummmmmm i think thats it? desperate to try the 12 out (hint hint kurt)
but ill throw another post up if i get to fly it again....

grab a demo if you can, they are gonna be dam good kites!!!!!!!! looks like the waroo could have a serious competitor in 2007

oh, and the little details... the Smart deflate thing where you deflate it from the wingtip is really cool and the bag has many funky things about it that make everything easy.... we managed to get a 9m waroo, 6m Havoc and 12m nemesis into a 2007 Assault 12m bag we have for the havoc (at the same time of course)with a bar on the outside...

oh and i was incorrect in saying that it has board carrier straps, this bag doesnt... not sure if its a proto tho?

and we were flying in a 42cm Waroo bar which is pretty much identical to the havoc from what kurt told me

the havoc bar will be quite different. It has a double cloop line
with an adjustable stopper as well as a new moulded qr on the cloop.

any of you guys got ur hands on the new assault?

any feedback on the havoc riding waves?
if it turns with heaps of depower like you say and also turns on a dime then i am guessing it is everything one would want.
especially if it has no pulleys on the bar and an adjustable stopper ball!!
bring it!

I rode the Havoc 12m on Sat, overall thoughts...very impressive!

I come from a C kite background and this was my first Flat kite experience. The wind at was a little up and down but around the 16-19knot range, i weigh 95kg.

I really enjoyed how the depower system works, easing the bar out in gusts, makes for a smooth, stress free riding. Once the bar is fully pushed out(depowered) the kite jus sits there, I would imagine the kite and bar system would be ideal for waveriding.

Have had a few quick sessions on both the 6 and 12 Liquid Force Havoc prototypes in some fairly typical winter Melbourne frontal wind. So far everything is looking wicked!

The kite has absolutely no bar pressure and doesn’t like back line at all, which is very different in comparison to the assaults, which I am used to.
I was a little worried at first about it being to light on the bar and not being able to tell where and what the kite was doing but I seem to have more or less got used to it already. Feels like a cross between a conventional C kite and a bow with characteristics from each.

Range so far appears really impressive I was able to ride the 12 and 6 in the same wind swapping from one to the other. I was still relatively comfortable on the 12 unhooking and underdone on the 6 but able to work it enough to have fun. There is definitely heaps of power there more than equivalent assault sizes. Overall its super stable, I couldn’t get it to drop out of the sky at all and that was in some very sketchy wind. It looks like this is going to be the pick out of the three kites available from Liquid Force for most people as it seems to combine the best of both worlds. It tracked perfectly for wakestyle riding with plenty of power and bucket loads of speed and I can see it also being great for the general free rider. All the little adjustments they are adding in construction, points to deflate etcetera are looking nice.

The bar is looking very promising. Loving the simplicity all round. Particularly imprested with the stopper piece, couldn’t be easier to adjust the throw of the bar while riding!

Definitely worth checking out they should be available by the end of September.
If anyone in Melbourne is keen to take one for a spin just let me know.
