Hi all I'm looking to get into kitesurfing and have been offered a 2007 GK Trix 9m Kite buy my mates friends shop in Vic.

It was a demo and has no damage, comes with bar and lines. I know they don't have a great reputation but i thought for $700 for my first Kite might be the way to go.

Can anyone give me some advice... I have been told that a 9m for me in perth is a good size to start on.

Thanks again

John.....

GK Trix are alright kites. I've spent a bit of time on the '06 & '07 Sonics and they're alright aswell.
For the 9m to work as your first kite you'd have to be ~70-75kg. Any more than that and you might consider going bigger.

I have flown both the 08 and 09 GK Trix, they get me going good from 18+knots (I am 75kg). They can go lower depending on what board you ride...

Its a hybrid shaped kite so gives lots of constant power and you can tune the response - I recently changed my kites over to Trixes from Sonics. The 2007 model has a tougher leading edge than the 2006's and you'll be doing well to damage it, they're tough as.

For a 2007 kite you'd be looking to get postage with that price and maybe some spare parts - getting spare gear out of the GK guys is getting tougher. Also, check that the 'freeflow' tubes are the soft rubber, and not the hard rubber. The hard ones crack the bladder nipples.
