Rider: Weight 85kg 8 yrs experience, fuels octanes then rebels 07, 08
Style:, Surf - only, home made quad board, strapped
Weather: mid 20's knots friday 24 4-5pm seabreeze says gusting to 30
Build Quality: 8/10
Satisfaction: 9.5/10
Disclosure: 20m lines

My Comments:
initial thoughts un packing -didnt seem different until pumped it up and there was no centre strut ! construction seems pretty much 08
bar lines appear unchanged, bag same

set up out of the bag good, thou like last year i think sets up to be too oversheeted

testing conditions, nnw, onshore contacio's, close outs

flies like a dream , nearly torch like in smooothness
seems a bit higher aspect and maybe flatter in arc?

super dooper stable, under flew it a few times, it fell back and regathered composure when retensioned the lines and off you go - no dramas

stood on beach with it overhead, steady as

turns on a dime, usual rebel depower

as for a 7m, much better grunt ,going to have to keep my 6m 08 for nuking days i think

no bad things to say really - did replace one pump clips with zip ties thou and colour blue/brown a bit drab - cant win them all!

like molly said- do your self a favour

Hey Bolgo

Sounds great, I really want to try the 09 7m but I went 8m instead. I still have my 07 7m which is such a great kite, except on the beach sometimes in super gusty wind when it wants to drop from the sky, on the water it's great and what a sensation to fly.

The 8m 09 is super steady and I really love this kite, it is definitely 1 full m2 bigger than a 7m so I am keeping my 07, however the steady 09 in a 7m would be great.
My 07 7m is like a late night date with a hollywood starlet, you get a good ride but you have to watch her all night. The 09 kites give you the ride and promise to be your friend as well.

This is interesting..
I usually ride an 8m Naish alliance (small kite) which is super steady & quick as, but silly me put a hole in it
The other week it was blowin a good 30knts, pretty gusty & i borrowed an 09 7m rebel, wasn't impressed at all, i found it didn't take the gusts well at all & i found it so quick through the air in which it would race fwd in the window the fall back again whilst being under the same load / tension.Which wasn't much fun

Didn't get to try it back to back with a different kite, but compared to my 8m was too shaky

there we go

i had a 8m alliance once (but not for long) and thought it crap, kept folding at the creases and doing allsorts of funny things in the air , it did have a lovely smooth feel thou

didnt find rebel fast, in fact maybe a bit slow for a 7m but i like em fast
on fast pig tails too

and i was very impressed with stability

----two users, two kites - 4 opinions!

more cliche - try before you buy - but i'm only interested in surfing with them so different styles may not suit

hey dazza5172, about your 07 7m rebel dropping out of the sky sometimes. I had the same proplem with the 07 10m and also a fare bit of bar pressure, then i found a on a forum site a solution, it was for the 07 7m and 9m, but it also worked on my 10m. Less bar pressure and the kite seemed to handle a bit better. The site is www.southcentralkiteboarders.com/rebeltune.html
