I'm brand new to the sport and am looking at picking up a new board as I've been told its better to spend the money on the board then to scrimp and struggle later.
Anyway I went into Kitepower and they recommended the 138x41 09 Cabrinha Prodigy, however it looks very similar to the 09 Cardboard Freeride 138x41
Obviously I don't really know jack about either board and even if I demoed them my skill level currently isn't at a level to do them justice.
I'm 92kg (hoping to be back under 90 soon) 6'1 and ride an 11m 08 Waroo.
Really looking forward to hearing peoples opinions or other suggestions for boards.
Cheers,
I guess my opinion is of little value to you since I have also just started ( 3 month) but I have the same kite as you and had the same problem with the board.
In the end I picked Prodigy because of the syncs, colour, price and the fact I could have it straight away, also it has my favourite animal onit.
Anyway so far I can tell the board handles chop very well- never ride on flat only on chop or swell ,had no problem with recovery( colour) and on 2m swell it does take a good few passes to get back.
The syncs are absolutely great ( they cost alone 150).I still remember from my lessons very bad ordinary footstraps.
I belive upwind ability of the board must be excellent since I had no problem to go upwind both ways pretty much straigt after my 3 lessons.
On the other hand You did read Freeride reviews they are all very good.
Good luck with your choice.
