Does anyone have any comments on Liquid Force or Mystic Warrior 08 harnesses?

I currently have a 06 dakine tabu and after 20min kiting it seems to loosen up and ride up too my chest, is this a common thing with new harnesses?

Cheers.

Didn't like the new Mystic Warrior '08; just not as comfortable as the '07. Also the '08 model DOESN'T come with a knife!
I just got myself an '07 model including knife.

Yes I also have just replaced my flying objects harness as it started riding up after 2 seasons with mystic warrior '07 , I have found it to be a good fit only thing is it seems to rub quite a bit in the kidney area , anyone else noticed this , or is it just me?

Flux, I have the 08 Mystic Warrior and I find the same thing, but I think its getting slightly better with more use. Either this or my skin is hardening in these areas and I'm not noticing it as much anymore. Despite this I think it's still quite a good harness but not as soft as some others with regards to comfort.

try on a prolimit hadlow as an option before you make a decision on a new harness, they have a system that doesn't ride up...... even if your gut protrudes a little (speaking from experience here). I find mine very comfy.

I have a 07 Warrior and have recieved some killer rash in the love handle area.
I hope fozzy's right and it goes away with more use.

Ended up selling my mystic 07 because of the rubbing, I found it too uncomfortable for me. Now have the new north harness and have had no dramas at all.

I have the LF Boardshort harness - having used the Flying Objects waist, Dakine Fusion seat and Pyro Waist - these boardshorts rock... not really a seat and not really a waist - super comfy and great flexability - you go kiting and you think you have forgotten something.

Great on the flat and even better in the surf - well worth the money - not sure about the Dakine ones, Im sure they are fairly similar!

Im very happy with these - I also had a bit of a back complaint and no issues at all with these

Oh well it's not just me , thats good I suppose pity about the $250 bucks but ........
I have a pair of dakine fusion boardies , I never really wore them on account that they were too big for me and you get a killer rash from the inside leg straps , but a guy said to wear lycra pants under them , and sure enough it does the trick.
Also they fit me just at the minute cause I ate to many pies over christams.
I must say they are pretty bloody good and , yes it does feel like you have left something on the beach.............................

Wonder if I should sell off the Mystic now ?

Yes, this is a common thing with all waist harnesses, unless you have huge pecks (and makes reaching the bar on the hybrid kites a real pain).
All this talk about Dakine shorts etc (fancy seat harness), they are quite good, but have you tried on a good old fashioned seat harness. Seat harness are one of those things you really need to try on in the shop before you buy, but if you get a good one, they are really comfortable. Sometimes tricky on toe side, but no riding up, no slipping about, no rash etc (if they fit right). Dont get me wrong, some guys swear by a waist harness, but it could be a fasion thing, not a practical one.

I have a DaKine seat harness and find it extremely comfortable. I am selling it to a friend and updating. All advice is go for a waist. I have a 2yr old high quality waist but it rides up and annoys the S#%@ out o me. I have been told the new Norths are sensational but its had to let go of my seat harness.

Sonic I was in the same boat - and the LF boardshorts have been the ultimate comprimise - super happy with them - give me the support and no ride up factor of a seat harness with the flexibility of a waist - keeping my dakine Fusion seat now and selling my new Pyro waist...

2.5 years ago I went from a Prolimit waist harness which hurt my ribs (out for 2 months...) to a Dakine Fusion seat (which I liked), to a "hybrid" Ocean Rodeo Session seat/waist harness (which I liked a lot more), to my recently purchased 08 North Styler waist (which I really like). Look... if you don't want your harness to ride up full stop then something like the hybrid Session harness is probably a good compromise, but if you want the benefits of a waist harness and one that feels really comfy (softer than the Mystics) and has minimal ride-up then perhaps the new North Styler is for you...

I hate seat harnesses, have been kiting for 6 years and have found the dakine pyro waist model to be excellent, but I just sold it and I'm in the market for a new one so I'm interested in this discussion.
Had a pro-limit and it was hard/stiff to start with but ended up ok, but the pyro was superior.
I think it's also a body type issue - what's comfy for one rider might be dodgey for another.
Sometimes it's worth changing the webbing to a coarser/wide band - I had a new pyro and the webbing loosened off - it was a pain.
Replaced the webbing and it was excellent - really 'locked' in the tension.
I'm considering the mystic but I think the dakine handle at the back is better than the mystic handle-pass system - dakine handle looks neater/stronger and won't flap about.

After reading all the feedback, I bought a Liquid Force 08 Luxury waste harness.
I tried on the Mystic Warrior and it did not seem to fit as snug as the LF.
The build quality are both fantastic, but LF won me over this time.
The only negative thing I can say is there is no knife, I have no idea why some top quality brands don’t put them in these day’s, but lucky enough there is room in the spreader bar pad for an old dakine knife.

I converted from the DaKine Wahine harness to the Liquid Force Aura. I love the feel of both harnesses but both are very different.
The DaKine normally should sit snug. Perhaps you do not do it up tight when on the beach. I tighten until it is just unconfortable and then when it is wet and I'm hooked in they loosens up just right.
Best thing if you can is to go to your local dealers and try a few on and see what they feel like. even try a smaller size in the DaKine.
However in saying that we sell 50/50 of Dakine & Liquid Force. It's what feels right on you.

I have been riding a Dakine Tabu harness for years but just got a new 08 Mystic Fire Starter. Have now ridden it a couple of times in just boardies and I love it! No rash problems at all, really comfy and feels really supportive without being restrictive.

It also has a quick release system on it for your safety leash which is a great idea, especially for riders riding a suicide leash system. and also comes with a knife.

Anyway, I'm stoked on it! Definitely worth a look if your in the market for a new harness.

because with the 5000 releases you shouldnt need to cut any lines. i found the knives rust anyway and the time you would need it its been rusted through n the blades useless.. and they get in the way for frestyle action

Harnesses are like snowboarding boots, i.e. each manufacter will make different sizes, shapes and designs. You need to find the one that fits your unique body shape.

You also need to think about your skill level and what kind of kiteboarding you plan to do.

* beginners should go for a harness that doesn't budge, not super tight, but tight enough so when you are chucked etc your harness is in the same place you left it and therefore easier to locate. Look towards the seat harness and remember to get the padded straps for between the legs so when you are doing the pooman it doesn't hurt so much.

* integrated shorts/harnesses are not my thing, but if you want it "all-in-one" then try out the extra-large nappy.

* waist harnesses are the most difficult to fit into. Each manu makes them slightly different, but generally speaking if you have a swimmers style body(i.e. wide shoulders, scrawny waist and stick legs) then the waist will fit you. If you are a bit tubby or full of beers in the belly then the waist will certainly rise up.

The mystic warrior i own has been perfect for me. I like the way it rotates for toeside etc, this will cause a rubbing effect, but you do toughen up, or some vaseline/sunshirt/wetsuit top under the harness will reduce wear and tear.

Find a shop with a lot of stock, wear whatever you would normally kiting into that shop and try them out. Nothing more important, IMO, than a comfy harness. I'd recommend(especially newbies) to spend extra here initially, you won't regret it.

I have a knife that is over 2 years old and no rusty in sight; I clean my gear with fresh water after every kite.

Freestyle action or not, 5000 releases will not help you when your lines are wrapped around your neck in the surf!!!!!!
