Hey guys,

Any information on good kitesurfing spots in Geraldton as I've never been there.

So far I've heard about Sunset Beach and Coronation Beach, but WAKSA is not too informative.

Thanks!

Dongara on the way up, Cauncy will shout you a beer. Otherwise the regular haunts in town are off Jarrah Street in Tarcoola Beach, Separation Point and Point Moore. 30km north of Gero you've got Coronations.

Sunset Beach and St Georges aren't overly popular with the kites, in part because there isn't much of a beach to launch and land from.

If you want to go a bit further north Horrocks is pretty good. Has flat water and good waves, nice grassy area to pack up, hose to wash your gear off and park where you launch. Locals are friendly too!

Certainly call in I'll do a cruisy dwinder with you to south beach, campsite next to the beach, nice little cafe, grass rig up wash down, showers/ great chilled spot,
7 mile is also a popular spot, for locals big bay,
Coros is a wicked spot to chill, $16 per night
Plenty of crew travelling, horrocks , Gregory,

Hi Jenna,
The Tarcoolah beach spot can be quite fearsome if your not too experienced riding in decent size and quite dumpy shore break conditions. Its bit like Scarborough on steroids and Wednesday is looking windy and swell. But if you are up for it its a great spot. Separation point is more user friendly, it has a smaller, though better shape wave and there is a flat area 100m or so before you get to the reef where the wave breaks. There are 2 shallow reef spots before you get to the waves that you need to look out for too. There pretty obvious if you are looking for them. Ill be out at Seppo after 4 this Wednesday all going to plan!

So far I've heard about Sunset Beach and Coronation Beach, but WAKSA is not too informative.

If you are willing to donate alot of your spare time you can give us a hand to update the 100's of spots along 1000's of kilometres of beach line , Don't hold back now on the offer .

She is a beginner grumble bum. I'd be happy to contribute to the WAKSA guides on the places I know about. Tell me how I can help and I will.

Hi Dave,
Thank you so much for the information. I'll be heading tomorrow morning to Separation point if it all looks good and if you want to join.

It might seem like a dumb question, but i dont want to set up a kite in the wrong spot. Is this separation point that you were talking about?

Also Dave, is there any 'safe' spot on an Easterly wind in Gero? Thank you!

Yep there's a little track and parking spot about 50m past the seperation point lookout.

Easterlies are a bit trickier, but there are a couple of spots on the north side of point Moore that are ok. But best to talk to some locals about where and when as you could be off to Madagascar if you get it wrong.

Maybe see u later tommorow at seppo.

Cheers Dave, I'll ask tomorrow in a local kiteshop that I spotted.

Thanks and maybe see you tomorrow if you decide to come in early to Seppo.

I won't be there at Seppo until after work unfortunately which is after 4. But it looks like southerly all day so seppo will be good in the morning if there's enough wind and that is your time.

Hope it goes well for you!!

Kite low over the water Jenna if you launch at the entrance, the used to be a post to teather from, or go 100 Mtrs south down the beach
As the winds cleaner and not over the dune, straight out 150 mtr there's a little bit of reef , you'll see it, don't hit it
Not trying to scare you, just a heads up
I'm pulling a sicky tomoz , looking good
Self employment gotta love it
I'd say coros will have a few out also if your solo at seppo

Hi Dusta, I think you took my comment of "not too informative" too personal. I was not pointing the finger and saying that WAKSA is doing a bad job with its locations, Im trying to get more in depth information about the spots from locals and people who have been there.

I don't have much knowledge, but I would be happy to help on Perth Metro spots.

And I only just got home from work. Rode the push bike into work today so riding into 30knots on the way home was a real kick in the guts for missing a session.
