Hi, my ids QR 1 has activated itself twice in two weeks. I'm pretty sure I set it ok but does anybody know how or why this has happened?
2012 was the first year for that style of QR. 2011 was the lady of the mushrooms, like what's probably on your leash.
Nothing bent in there? Loose fitting or sloppy? Is the bungy on the red hat maintaining tension...?
I've knocked the DD out and unhooked by accident but never had a Cab QR release on me. In fact the only QR that did was the Peter Lynn Zero7 bar, and all that needed was a board hitting it.

I also have that bar, but never had a problem with the QR. Are you referring to the flag-out line QR attachment? Yeah that gets knocked out quite easily. Naish bars with below the bar depower are also very fickle.
Yep I had the same problem with my first Naish Boxer bar (2008ish). It had a very twitchy QR which inevitably led to my first "scared the pants off me" incident when I was still learning after it let go by what seemed to be simply brushing up against me or the board somehow.Even though I'd practiced reattaching the QR on land and in shallow water during lessons, it was a completely different situation being out in deep water trying to figure out how to reattach while keeping the kite from taking off to New Zealand and somehow worrying about finding and retrieving my board.
I learnt pretty quick to just be mindful of where the QR was and to try and protect it from hitting up against anything that would inadvertently set it off. I have since been told by many kiters that the Boxer was not one of Naish's finest kites and after now changing to an Ozone, can't say I've ever had to be mindful of it again.

No, the red hat for the QR. Kept releasing when the board was floating and would hit it from underneath. They're was nothing like a bungy to keep it down...just friction.
Hey mate. I did this on CKI whilst learning the toeside to heelside carve. I worked out that I was leaving my thumb trailing off of the bar when I sheeted in then I accidentally dragged it across the release as I sheeted out. This caused a flag out activation.
I realised I had done this only after I nearly did it again.
Concentrate on tucking your thumbs in and see if it changes anything.
Also, I have the 2014 bar that has the same system so I am happy to look at it if you want me to when we are next at Shoalies. L
Cheers, Brett.
just pull on the red part of the quick release to see how loose and easy it is to pull,if its very easy and loose i would look at repacing the elastic cord that keeps it closed make sure you use the same thickness cord and same elasticity and make sure it allows you to operate the qr correctly ,its the only thing that holds the qr together did mine 3 months ago
