The nswkba are currently working on a revamp of the membership system and website.

What we'd like to know is what you want to see from nswkba, we're all for creating a better sense of community. We want to produce a good system for kite buddies so you can advertise yourself as wanting to not kite alone. We can have updates, forums and blogs etc.

Mostly this revamp is to help the committee manage the members better and faster and make your membership experience easier and faster.

Let us know what you would like to see from the NSWKBA.

Current areas of improvement planned are:

kite buddies list
better membership signup
more general info for non-members
events calender
forums
news blog
twitter feeds
members area
new kite locations maps
new shop locater map

Thanks

Hi NSWKBA,

All the items listed in the areas that NSWKBA are looking seem to be high maintenance, and am not sure if the funds raised from NSWKBA membership would be best put to use on these inititives or better guided elsewhere in promoting Safe Kiting.

Forums:-
There already are a couple of forums available ie. Seabreeze, and others will remain nameless. Another forum isn't really warranted. I understand Why you would probably want to include a forum, as the Seabreeze forum, is very frequently used, and then becomes a greater attraction for sponsorship, due to website traffic. Look at the forum traffic in each state affiliations section in seabreeze, NSW, can go a week without anyone posting. Next SEQA, WAKSA, KBVA, etc, will also have forums. Keep it all in one place like Seabreeze, or bring everyone together under AKSA's website.

Kite Buddies:-
There probably is a need for this as there are many posts on Seabreeze, that show some people are after someone to kite with.

Twitter Feeds:-
I understand that this is all the rage at the moment, but really, the consistent upkeep of the site would be continual. Whom will be updating the twitter feeds, and what sort of information can NSWKBA provide a very frequent basis . i.e 2-3 per day that can keep people interested in following NSWKBA on twitter.

Events Calender:-
Definately a must, including; demo days; comp days; downwinders; BBQ Days

Members Area:-
A bit confused on what additional information members are actually chasing, which isn't already on this list. - Seems unwarranted

New Kite Locations Map:-
Most Definately required.

New Shop Locator Map:-
Could even be integrated within the Kite Locations map, to keep it simple. - As i don't think there are hundreds of kiteshops that need a separate map.

Better Membership Signup:-
From my experience this seems to be fine, only once a year, and it seems to work fine for me. I joined up at 9pm on Friday Night, and membership arrived in Mondays mail
But i suppose it may be improved from NSWKBA for admin purposes, and ease of keeping track of members.

Council Bylaws and Safekiting:-
Between AKSA and NSWKBA, both organisations are used as the Kiting Voice to combat Beach access, and Restrictions. This area needs to be tracked and kept public for all members and non members to understand and educate that kiting if performed safely, is relatively safe to the general public. - Look at WA and the recent problems they have been having at Mullaloo.

Anyway these are only my opinions.

Hi NSWKBA,

I know, this (and others) are fantastic and I see your point about there being another one. A lot of people who are interested in kiting seem to come across the nswkba website rather than seabreeze so I'd like to see some discussions over there about safety, kite spots and the like. maybe its asking too much.

Kite Buddies:-
There probably is a need for this as there are many posts on Seabreeze, that show some people are after someone to kite with.

Glad to here. this should be able to be built into the new system.

Since i set it up a few people have started following it and its actually an automatic feed of updates to the website anyway, what I plan to see is a blog/message type page where whenever something big gets changed or added people can see that there. say we make a new kite map for byron, we can let people know this via this page.

Events Calender:-
Definately a must, including; demo days; comp days; downwinders; BBQ Days

This should be sorted. :)

Members Area:-
A bit confused on what additional information members are actually chasing, which isn't already on this list. - Seems unwarranted

we have a lot of options of letting members see more things than 'casual' visitors like contact details for others etc. there isn't much in it at the moment.

New Kite Locations Map:-
Most Definately required.

want to add some new spots?

New Shop Locator Map:-
Could even be integrated within the Kite Locations map, to keep it simple. - As i don't think there are hundreds of kiteshops that need a separate map.

this is done and can easily be linked in with the kite spots should we desire.

Better Membership Signup:-
From my experience this seems to be fine, only once a year, and it seems to work fine for me. I joined up at 9pm on Friday Night, and membership arrived in Mondays mail

a lot of people seemed to have problems with payments from what i could see. for admin purposes its a must at our end.

- Look at WA and the recent problems they have been having at Mullaloo.

we try our hardest..

Anyway these are only my opinions.

and we like them.. thanks keep them coming.

Nice work NSWKBA. Website seems way more useful than ever before to me. I like where you are headed.

I had initial thoughts like kiteryder that maybe it would be too much up keep, but after seeing what changes and improvements have already happened, I'm impressed. You guys really seem to know what you are doing and be well motivated.

Keep up the great work.
