This is the description on the ebay listing !!!!!!!!!!! Apparently it was found floating a few months ago, reckons he tried to find owner via seabreeze!!!!!!!!
You are bidding on a damaged used Global Kites GK Sonic Kite.
We found this kite floating in the bay, I know very little about Kite Surfing so can only give you very basic information.
The leading edge of the kite is deflated, there is a tear in the fabric and the membrane is broken. (see photo) I'm assuming this is fixable in the right hands. I notice there is a patch on the leading edge on the other side of the kite, so i'm guessing there has been another problem / puncture in the past that has been fixed.
The other "ribs" that run perpendicular to the leading edge are inflated and appear to be in fine.
There is a mess of cord attached to the kite as well as the bar and other items.
I don't know the size, I"m happy to measure it if you tell me where I measure from. (leading edge ? trailing edge ?)
Due to the size, local pickup only. Melbourne South Easter suburbs.
Owner of kite is Mandon Bossi of Melb.
Tel No is available. He will be try to be in contact with ebay. I am not sure what steps they took to try and find owner but it is now able to be sorted.
hopefully!
Hi Guys. FYI, I am the guy selling this on ebay.
Mandon has contacted me and has proven that the kite it is and he will be picking it up today probably. I have cancelled the ebay transaction and returned the money to the winning bidder.
Just so you understand the history...
my father in law picked his up out of the bay when he was fishing off brighton. He thought it was a boating hazard and was going to turf it.
when he got back to shore at brighton, he asked around if anyone had lost it and came across a guy who knows someone who runs classes or charters or something like that who said he would get back to him. (but never did)
When my FIL told me about it, i said it sounds like a kite and is probably worth a lot of money and could i sell it for him. Which i said i would. Someone also suggested i check seabreeze (in this forum) to see if anyone had lost it, which i did and found no one.
So i figured there was no way i would find the owner and it was safe to sell
Mandon has also admitted that he had thought the kite was lost for good and didn't take any steps to try find it other than searching the shore for a couple of days. (ie he didn't post anything here)
Anyway...as i said, Mandon has proved the kite is his and i'm happy to be returning it to him.
