Paid my dues to my windsurfing god yesterday..
My first foray to the dark side with my new kite and kiteboard purchased for the awesome flat kiting conditions up here in karratha. ![]()
Went to a desolate beach, super flat and windy yesterday (40 mile). Having a ball!, stacked it out the back where the chop starts, tacking (or whatever turning around in kite speak is) and my feet fell out of the board..
I then proceeded to watch my board float directly upwind away from me, looking into the sun. The water leaving the bay (3m) tide ripped the semi-submerged board away with the current and kite pulled me in the other direction. I tried body dragging but it went directly out... Never saw it again..
searched for hours - not a chance. Its probably lodged somewhere in the 10km of mangrove surrounding the beach..
If anyone hears of a barnacle encrusted cabrinha calibre 133 being found in a few years time... have a laugh* and remember my sacrifice to the windsurfing god.
(*and tell whoever finds it to call the phone number on the board)
Oh yeah,. Its a Cabrinha Calibre 133 - green white brown - has IF FOUND PLEASE CALL 0419933680. BEER REWARD written on the side.
