A friend of mine Marc (Marcus Armstrong) decided to detach himself from his security today at Leighton beach thinking "it'll float into shore"-only for us to watch his kite drift on out towards Rottnest and the horizon at sunset despite some of us swimming for it) Its a pink and purple (07/08) Slingshot Turbo Fuel. He's only been kiteing for a month and its gotta suck. So please if you find it call me on 0428512313 or Choice Kitesurfing also know him. Cheers xox

Hi there

I was one of the crew at Leighton yesterday that was swimming out to try and get the kite in question. We did think it unusual that the kite seem to just be drifting really slowly out to sea. My brother-in-law and I thought we might get to it, but the kite started to drift faster off the coast then we could swim! My only thought was if one of the guys at the main kiting spot in Leighton could try to go out for a long tack to get it, but I guess by that stage it was too far out to sea.

Did you guys end up calling 131444 and letting the police know that the kite was lost? This is just so if someone finds the kite, they don't lauch a huge search and rescue operation looking for a lost kiter.

Good luck in getting the kite back; sorry we couldn't get to it in time!

Dean

Yeah I was the chick that swam for it a bit longer. Thanks for having a go tho. When I got back to shore I called the Water police to notify them that there is no one attached to the other end n got marc to call freo and hillaries harbors this morning to put a notice out. he's also tried the lifesaving clubs. It was spotted at midnight up city beach way still out to sea i think was the location-either way a hell of a way off-thoes things go with the tide and wind. Thanks for all your help yesterday. Marc unfortunately learnt his lesson the hard way about putting the safety to the outside lines when you let go of your kite so that it flays out and stops pulling you so you can swim to shore with your kite still attached. xox

Hey guys I'm the sucker who lost the kite at leighton…it was last spotted 4 and a half nautical miles nw of north beach at midnight on Saturday. I've contacted anyone that has a remote chance of seeing it with no luck so far, I also went for a nice coastal drive up past ocean reef Sunday morning to chance my luck with no success. Cheers to the guys who swam out for it and also the guy that went out on the kite to make sure no-one was attached. And as for you Jess, you're one crazy girl, cheers for swimming out and giving it your best efforts love ya for it!……live and learn is all I can say guys live and learn

Yeah it was quite an intense fling….kinda like a bright star flying through the sky that only lasts a small amount of time…intense but there's always the everlasting memory of it floating off into the sunset……...
