Does anyone know of any insurance company that covers kiting or windsurfing gear stolen from inside the car?

Every insurance company I have contacted excludes it while away from home and also when in use even if you try and add it to home and contents or car insurance.

Has anyone got this cover or any insurance gurus out there?

cheers luffdaddy.

I think some housing insurance policy's(Premium, expensive ones) have a provision for this, items that are in your policy and kept at the residence are covered whilst away from the residence,ie: on holidays. Simalar to extended travel insurance, the higher the monies value of the items, the higher the premium. You can get insurance for anything for a price, unless your Jackie Chan that is.

GIO personal effects cover as part of home contents. You pay an additional premium but nominated goods (in my case the wifes rock, and my golf clubs, windsurfing and kiting gear) are allegedly covered australia wide for theft and loss.

Try Western QBE - valuables policy. I did have my kites/board (and a few other things) added to my exisitng home contents policy only for an extra few bucks a week.

Hi Boys, thanks for your replies and advice.

I have my house and contents covered with CBA and have my windsurfing gear nominated so is covered if stolen from the house but they definately won't cover outside the house or when in use.

I also tried GIO and they said they won't cover full stop but as yet haven't tried QBE so will give them a go.

Will let you know how I go and thanks again for the info.

Cheers

Yeah Try CGU
I have had an insurance policy with CGU in the past which has personal valuables covered anywhere in Australia even if you lend it.
It was limited to $1000 per item unless specifically specified as a valuable.
I used to have it for my bike and video camera. Had to make a claim in the past for a car burg.

I think I still have that type of policy but not sure as my wife deals with all of that sort of thing
