Hi
What is the fastest you have been on your kite gear?
If you are on a twinnie, directional, race board or foil?

69.1 k/h in Augusta's flat water about 2 years ago on the GPS watch on a regular twin tip. Still a long way off the speed records, but it felt like crazy fast and like it wasn't possible to go any faster even with butter flat water and 25-30 knots. Falling off the board at this speed left us with some bruises...

Charlotte told us that there was no run-off at the end of the course and the only way to stop was to ditch the kite and roll. Not pleasant!

When the wind/tide is good altona can be awesome for speed runs...

Faster than the cars...

But for real epic speed runs, inverloch and sandy point in behind the sand bars...

Without proof it never happened...

Saw a dude get skull dragged through the dunes this afternoon at scarbs. I would say he did at least 40km an hour for the first 10m

A 47kts (87kmh) peak, a 45kts 10 sec run and a 43kts (79kmh) 10 sec average (5 best 10 sec runs averaged; which forms the official speed www.gps-kitesurfing.com uses for rankings) was my best in the short time I did some speed kiting. Moved to Auckland for a while where there was a couple of good places to speed-kite but sadly had to move back to Sydney where there is nowhere so never got to break the goal I was working towards of 50kt 10 sec run. I miss speed kiting hugely. If you ever get the chance to get on a dedicated speed board at a good venue for it (long dead flat water) then I heartily suggest you give it a try (you really don't get anywhere near it on a twin tip in normal conditions). Proper speed-kiting is more fun and thrilling than the 'who cares crowd' might imagine. I freestyle, boost and surf in equal amounts and speed-kiting I found to be a further great adjunct to the sport. Once you get above 40kts the sensation of speed and power is incredible and every few knot increments above that feels like an exponential increase in speed. And the crashes get exponentially more thrilling too.

36 knots on a twinny, good speed locations down in Albs Harbour on both wind directions East and West on the right tides, will have a crack at busting 40 this season.
Anyone got an unwanted speed board?

A little of topic.

Two bulls on top of a hill in a field full of cows, (1ST BULL SAYS) lets run down there n shag one of those cows, 2ND BULL SAYS ) lets walk down n shag em all..
Speed is good but slow n steady wins the race.

Poley here...
Been windsurfing for a couple of years and have only just started racing the gps....just wondering how hard it is to go quick (35+ knots/70km/h) on a kiteboard compared to a windsurfer? Anyone done both?
As far as my understanding goes, less chop equals more speed. Kites can go in much shallower water than us poleys and this should mean they can go a lot faster easier? This is probably why they hold the speed record at the moment of 55+knots.

Yeah waayyy off topic. More like female sexist jokes. They belong with 18th century thinkers like Abbott and PUP. I wonder what sexist pigs will be red thumbing me on this now.
