hey guys, say was hoping that i could get some info on some fast looping kites. I do heaps of hooked in loop tricks, and am a core gts fan.. but it doesn't seem to loop that fast. it does powered loops. maybe its just me, hope you guys can help me out as i wana try something new. cheers. shane.
sorry mate, was just looking for a new kite that has fast loops.. thanks for the correction though, do you have any ideas!!
hey thanks guys, sweet. the rpm's and the c4 was what i was thinking. ill see if i can get a demo. thanks for the advice. cheers.
I'm pretty happy with the speed that my 9m vegas loops. That said, I think the bar is meant for a 12. Its fast though!

I second this my Vegas make me horny about going. Kiting I love them the bar set up has a lot to do with it and where u have the pressure set u run both bars the same 20m and 24m both have near the same loop speed.
I use cab FX's. Super fast loops, I can even get the 10 to loop with still enough height to catch me. Give them a demo.

C kites due to theyre design are going to create SMOOTHER loops then a bow or a flat kite. imagine all the kites at zenith look straight up at them and youll notice theyre projected area is quite different. for the same sqm the one with the smallest projected area (the c ) will actually be smoother due to this next part. again imagineing all those kites above your head the air passing over them but this time have them rotated on the dot (impossible but pretend no lines connected) 90 degrees now what you should be seeing is allmost no wind passing over the flat kites tiny little wingtip bugger all wind passing over the bows wintip and the c kite should have allmost just as big amount of air passing over its wingtip as it did over it as it was previously.
bit tricky to explain without a model present but its precisely that that makes the c kite far smoother for looping because no matter where it is itll allways have ruffly the same amount of air passing over it. this continuous power thru out the turn or loop is what you want.
some c kites are not as ptry be pulled in as others and there for wont be as smooth in the loop. this is where you find alot of the hardcore pure C style kite advocates come from. but honestly for learning loops i think a open c or c like or whatever the flavour of the month c is just fine.
now for looping "speed" its all going to be about line lengths and where the kites located in the window (deep or forward ar etc) and her flight characteristics things like pulleys bridals can alter this somewhat so your best off just ignoreing all that **** because youll have to analyze every kite individually so just get a blanket understanding on what you want and wash away all those other catagories
so id say **** off all the bows and flat kites **** off the pure c's (alltho there the best your not ready) **** off all the waves and half ****ing beginer wannabe freestyle kites and just narrow it down abit you should be left with 5 or so top companys "freestyle" kites. (if you want by all means get a fuel or a razor or a torch but id suggest a step down first) then look at those 5 kites probably the rpm chaos c4 vegas and work out little individual flight characteristics you do or dont like. maybe you hate 5th lines maybe you hate pulleys maybe you hate c4's that sit to deep in window maybe you have the cab bars
anyways all and all when looping UNDER POWERED seriously go a kite size down theyll be quick sining up and down so can generate plenty power that way but youll thank yourself when it comes time to pull the trigger
Why the red thumb? There is actually a lot of useful information in there. First question would be, what is your objective? I assume you are not trying to quickly downloop a kite while you are carving around on a sb? That would be easy, any wave specific kite usually turns on a dime ie fast and not with a lot of force. From what you describe you refer to tt riding freeride/freestyle looping. Which GTS do you have? I had a GTS2 and 3. Due to the pulleys imho there is a bit of a delay which is in the way of precise and fast loops. You need to make sure lines are under tension (btw you want this with any kite unless you like surprises). One way is to try the GTS on shorter lines. Worked well for me. And play with the settings. Also, the speed of the loop depends on when you loop i.e. where the kite sits in that moment (zenit, going up or down from a jump, power zone etc).
C and Cish kites are usually built in a way that the loop will be smooth i.e. consistent, with constant power through the loop. So that you actually get an acceleration. At the same time you want it controllable and predictable.
I am on Enduros now and the loops are ideal for my style/level. Found them more dynamic, consistent and predictable than the GTS. Clearly there are riders who make the GTS look like a looping machine. And it does loop nicely. What I am saying is it may not suit your style or the way you like to loop. Try fish poling the hell out of it when powered up with shorter lines, starting with zenit on the way down from a jump or during a backroll transition etc which should be a safe way of testing it.
Most bridled c kites should loop a similar user friendly but still fun way. Full on c kites will tend to have a wider arch hence have more power through the loop. And then there are kites which are meant to be advanced dynamic cross over machines e.g. Union which I found turns on the dime without any pull which is pretty useless. So I would not like it as I guess you'd have to slow the loop down enough to make it develop some power. Risk is it then slows down too much
As always a matter of preference. Try and play around with the GTS, if a younger version. The first one may be too delta-ish for loops?
Otherwise yes RPM, FX, Enduro etc. will be in that easy to loop but still fun shelf.

yeah but when people post **** lame boreing incorrect or just blatently dangerous advice i call them out on it and they get all hurt feelings so red thumb everything, dont worry they know my advice is sound they just dont like me is all :) which suits me fine cause there all kooks anyways apart from about a dozen people here and that dozen dont need any advice from me , kinda ironic
