Howdy all !!
Found this 11m slingshot Rev going for cheap in a shop. The sales crew didnt have a clue about what it was or what its worth, so after some quick negotiating a got them keen on a low low deal.
Canopy is in perfect condition. No repairs and its crispier than my 3 day old socks........ but...... I got no f*** idea what year it is........ and I cant buy any kite without knowing it year.
uploaded some pics of the bar.
if anybody can help with what year would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.
Rev 1 was around end of 2006 from memory, gutless wonder
The serial usually has date of manufacture mixed in, pretty sure I can see 06 on your picture
Slingshot Revs, were very good..... was an exciting time for kite design, with the introduction of SLE and Delta shapes.
(not everything worked, but these were excellent).
owned several different REV sizes, including an 11m. (prob the best size).
THE REV is the grandfather of todays Rally and RPM kites.
I used mine mostly in the Surf. (Taranaki, NZ) they were really strong and lasted several years.
They are prob still around Melbourne somewhere? i sold mine through "TheZu" in 2011ish.
REV = 2007
REV2 = 2008
LINK = 2009
Dont PAY too much, you can pick up last years gear complete for <$999 if you ask around.
I had a quiver of Rev's, the 11 was a great kite.
13 and 15 werent. They didnt have a good bottom end at all.
If your after a kite with grunt then there are better kites out there. But in thier wind range the 11 was a great kite.
I wouldn't out lay anymore than $600.
The 7 and 9 are good kites.
Good kites for learn.
yes it was a good kite I rode them for 3 years
BUT
why wouldnt you get a 1 or 2 year old kite for $5-600
there is lots to choose from
You probably want the canopy crispier than 3 day old socks, if it were the sock you keep in your bedside drawer, then it would probably be ok
Rev 1. ..... 2008 model, chuck the bar and get a new comps tick with 23m lines .... Kites r good as and if there is a 13m there for $250 message me
Rev 2 kites were great, I had them in 9 and 7 meter. Only problem I saw was the shrinkage of the p lines which made the kites fly like dogs. Easy enough to replace, but I found after 30 sessions they would affect the kite. I would agree that it would be best to move on and find a one or two year old kite, but if it was gifted at less than 200 bucks than go for it.
I fact..... I don't even need a new kite....... Got a 12m + 15m........ But I'd buy it just for the hell of it.
a new kite for the price of 2 slabs........Sh** Yeah!!!
Just use it for some beach shade if it turns out being a dog. I did that with a 12m air rush that I got for $20
