what if kite was heliums?
Hmm, if we massively increased the size of the main bladder.
Get rid of the ribs, too heavy.
Get rid of the fabric, too heavy again.
Make the bladder a more useful ball like shape.
Imagine the hang time we could get!
Ya know this could work. With the FACT that helium is LIGHTER THAN AIR this could revolutionize kite flying as we know it. I'm exited. We need a Kickstarter for this
Cabrinha will make one. Ohh naa wait they just change stuff that already exists. and for the purpose of absolutly nothing. Clicky bars, ball loops. Next will be straps n boots being held to the board with magnets or some silly gimmic.
Would be additional recurring cost having to buy helium canisters for inflation, improve relaunch maybe, could be a pain for self launch !

Got to get branded/original equipment Helium canisters, not those knock off made in China/Switch ones. Their Helium is low quality and doesn't boost/loop as well.
Yeah it sucks having a company that dares to have a go at innovation... If it weren't for progressive thinkers you'd still be riding a foil or worse a 2 line bridled C... (Do you know what either of them are?) maybe one day you should have a go of some old school tech and you may think twice before slagging off the pioneers that innovated the safe and easy to use wind bags that we take for granted today...

As above
I'm no chemist. Why can't you use Hyrogren, it's lighter right?
Explosive pop guaranteed
What I would love is a product I can inject into a kite bladder to reduce chances of pops, pin holes and seal any leaks, except valves of course.

Cabrinha is is the Apple of the kitesurfing world.
Helium is expensive. Something like $3000 a bottle.
Hyrdogen is cheaper maybe $1500? per bottle.
However both will permeate through plastics. So your kite will go down. How fast? i'm not sure.
Go out and by a bottle of hydrogen and helium and do some tests for us and lets us know how fast the kite goes down and how much extra performance you get!
Let say the average kite has 200 litres of air in it.
That's 256 grams of air.
Or 36 grams of helium Or 19 grams of hydrogen.
So the weight savings will be 223 grams for helium and 241 grams for hydrogen.

This is nek level stuff. Kites made out of the new D4 ripcloth would work better as they are more airtight, Jumps would have to be reversed because of float. Riders that had maximum control over descent (Maximum Under Free Fall or MUFF divers) would excel. Color of kites would play an even bigger role in performance. Smoking would be banned on all kite beaches. Good question!
Coming from Windsurfing, I too thought that would be a good idea - you could tune for various shapes with tapers..would still need a master like leading edge to lock in shape.
Speed - would go like a bat out of hell
Relaunch - never mind it's the though the that counts - watch the windsurf sails sink like the Titanic ![]()
Could be done - never say can't...
Remove struts and have curved carbon rods.
No need for 5 bladders and excess cloth.
Like this?
The C Quad was around before lei's. Doesn't relaunch very well!
Well there you go - get Robby Naishs kite n windsurf race development team onto it, for a real weapon !
