i am heading there tomorrow for a weeks camping, where would be the best spots for waves , i don't mind heading either side of the town for 50 ks to setup a campsite if its got a decent wave/beach to kite?
Mylies beach or west beach (both in fitzgerald nat park) would be the best options for waves, but don't expect too much... Theres a few spots there you can camp. The wind needs to have a fair bit of southerly in it to get in there cleanly too.
12 mile beach on the east of town is good for surfing in the passage between the rocks, but wouldn't work for kiting. You'll see what i mean if you go there.
If flat water is your thing, go camping at masons bay, its got pretty good flat water and you can camp on the beach. No waves nearby though.
