I know mostly everyone rides suicide but hearing a pro slingshot rider (on fuel with 5th) leashes straight to the 5th got me thinking.

There seems like there are a few good benifits such as no snapping and bending out leashes, not getting stretched as much riding boots and just saving the kite from destruction.

Is there anyone out there who rides leashed to their 5th line? Does it work well? I was thinking somehow putting a stopper around 3m down the 5th line, anyone have experience on this matter?

If I could stop my kite from flagging out all the way it would be amazing.

Hooking on 5th line works but you will also get you kite inverted a lot more

I have slingshot under the bar depower, so hook to my trim strap. When I crash it crashes softer into the water as it depower when you let go about 3 ft, my old liquid force used to pull 6 ft. I wouldn't go any longer than 2M as the kite will have little power but be a pain to reset all the time.

Heard Eric Reinstall has a stopper on his fifth for the same reason.

May not be 100 percent of you use the release the chicken loop whilst hooked in but I think you could then pull the centre lines to reach above the swivel and grab the line.

Trying to visualize where you connect your leash but cant grasp it. Any chance of a photo?

Connecting to the flagging line certainly does save your kite from tomohawking and having massive crashes (why Eric Rienstra does it). I thought about doing something like this but I crash my kite all the time (where Eric doesnt) so the thought of having to reset every time has stopped me..

Interested to see how you do it Nick. I killed my old C4's from too much tomohawking.

Think he refers to the actual trim ie depower rope so that if you let go the depower gets pulled all the way in

yes it works fine. the older fuels were designed so that you clipped to the 5th. they had an eye spliced into the end, and that stupid "wave grenade" thing so you could relese if it wrapped.

you don't need a stopper, the bar doesn't usually go that far & it's a pain in the arse to wind/unwind with a stopper, but it's easy enough to put one on if you think you need to.

i still ride with an 07 bar set up like this. i don't clip to the 5th becuase i hate having to relaunch every time i drop the bar, but there is no other reason not to.

kiters have such short memories when it comes to gear...

Here you go default. Only works with below the bar! C4's can be modded to a 5 line, think Rowdy runs a fifth to two bridal points

Thanks Nick, I have Fuels now but use 2014 bar. The plastic handle on the new trim rope isnt round like the 2013 one though.

That depower rope wears out pretty quickly as it is, as well as being a rip off (although its cheaper than a leash) its a pain in the ass to replace, has doing this made the rope wear out any quicker?

Maybe a bit, should get 6 months out of it. I splice my own ropes so replacing only costs about ten bucks and my time. I was thinking of running a fifth instead but not sure the pump point on the 2013 fuels is designed for a fifth.

Thats about the only thing strong enough to pull the depower on when its nuking on a slingshot bar!

Nuking wind is the only time I wish I had above the bar depower though. Below thirty and is sweet as just relax you're edge and it's sweet.
