Evening people.
Looking for any good tips on riding toeside.
I can ride heelside, but it feels better riding toeside on my un-natural side. I know this is a bad practice to get into, but it feels better.
I'm finding it a little tricky to lean out forward rather than back. Feels like the kite just won't let me turn around. Could that be coz of my hook, and the chicken loop staying I front of me rather than to the side like harnesses with no hook/moveable?? Its almost like I start getting pulled back downwind and thus stopping me from any upwind progress. Across the wind is fine, but upwind is a dog of a thing.
Dunno what my problem is, and I'm sure more practice will dial it, just after any tips, or any advice on problems others have had??
Appreciate any help at all!
On'ya!!
Yep it is harder!. Very difficult if your hook is staying central. I found it nearly impossible with a seat harness without a sliding bar, and with a waist harness it needs to slide around. Dynabar makes it much easier. Also more difficult to work the kite, so you need to be powered up.
Loosen your harness or try a dynabar. Drop your back knee so you can get your weight more outbound so you can point higher.
Thanks for your help.
I spent all arvo practicing it. I personally found the trick was only using my back hand on the bar, thus giving me more freedom to turn. It was a little tricky to stay powered up with one hand, but by the end I got it going good. All I gotta do now is dial it.
Was deff much easier when it kicked up over 20knots than it was at 15kn.
Thanks for all your advice & help
Toeside riding (upwind) is pretty bad for your body, I suggest practicing switch more. Toeside will always feel awkward compared to Heelside.
