I like the 10.5m.

It has a tad bit more bar pressure than my revs but it turns just as fast and has more depower than my revs.

It doesnt have the bottom end of my revs but the main difference I found was that 100% depower on the link is 100%.

For learners this is good and bad because if they dont have the stopperball set right, the kite will kill all its power and fall from the sky.

The link is heavier too. I'll try taking out the cam batterns one of these days.

The link has a really bad reputation. I dont reckon theyre that bad. Theyre not great either.

the link, when setup right, is just a REV version 1.0 [}:)]

There a great kite..

I would highly reccomend taking out the batterns though.. the kite will be just as good + some..
Give it a go sometime.. fly with the batterns then take them out

I like my 9m link.

Took a fair bit of playing and some tips from a few people to get it working well though. I've removed the leading edge battens and i'm flying it 5 line now. Its a lot nicer to fly than it used to be, no more over flying the window and nose diving like it used to.

Can't really comment on how grunty they are as i haven't flown many other kites. But i can get up wind on a 135 home made ply board in about 12 knots, about 15 knots on a stonker 125 - im 65kg

the biggest kite I own is a 9m Link!

Min Wind: 15-16 knots
Weight: 75kg
Board: 130x40
Experience: 5.5 seasons

PS they are an excellent looping kite but are a bit too fast sometimes for freestyle. You will have to retune some of your moves to suit...

Thanks guys!!! After getting some advises from the forum, I took my 10.5 out again and had an awesome session. Now I understand what it means by 'Link is an excellent kite in the hand of efficient rider'!

By setting up as the full power mode - shortest knot set up for the back lines and using the stopper ball to prevent the over sheeting issue, the nose diving didn't happen anymore - 100% depower is gone but it still does as much as other bow/hybrid does.

I noticed first time Link does not have as deep canopy than others (this may be the reason why it doesn't have the bottom end grunt and this kite prefers high end flying fast). It seems this kite is designed to ride with the power generated by working the kite, not so suitable for dragging style or beginners riding rely on the projected area and wind forces only - I guess it is a good practice kite.

And also found this kite needs to be let it breath like C-kites, guessing SS must have developed it based on Fuel - similar flying characteristics with depower/bit more controls in mind. I was able to get a good continuous pull by synchronizing the kite movement and the push and pull of the bar - a little more coordination required. was much more fun than just locking the kite in one position and hope wind speed is right for the ride.

I am having second thoughts on selling it, certainly I wouldn't sell it at an under value. Anyway it is quite a good toy having so many different setting options and I am learning so much about the kite physics testing different setups. Some might say it is a hard way but it all fun to me! Like finding hidden treasures one by one - no wonder there are secret followers on this controversial model. Whether good or bad, it is definitely a part of kite development history and I am glad I gave it a try.

I guess I should thank Slingshot for launching the kite with the wrong bridle setup allowing kiters to grab a decent kite at an awesome price and also fixing the problem with the working bridles as well as good services too. Now I have a problem having one too many kite to play with, now I might have to consider selling others.

Out of the bag quite a shocking kite really, but if you redesigned and rebuilt it yourself you could get a half decent kite out of it. Not worth it, much better kites out there.

Love my 7m (orig black bridal!) & 9m...

They were insanely good value and when tuned in, don't seem all that different to the Rev's I've flown.

I would like to thank the guys who forum bashed them out of existence. New, they were the best deal going over the 07/08 season. Used, they were a steal!

Love it.

Could someone please start bashing another decent kite so i can get a similar deal on an 09 upgrade...

If someone's going to do it, please please please do a Slingy once again?

Man~ Slingy kites are so tasteful!!! and even a slight thought of a 09 at half price already gives me warm fussy feelings.

don't know if SS is going to let it happen though...

My 7m link is awesome in the surf. 18knots and I'm on it. not as smooth power delivery as the REV but i like the on/off grunt of the 7. built like a brick ** house. take the batons out the LE but not the tips

the 'general opinion' (on any kite) is an extension of that comp winning move where; from standing to attention > bend slightly as you raise the right knee > place the elbow of your bent right arm on the raised knee > place your chin squarely on an inverted fist. For max pts - hold with a seriously thoughtful expression before breaking to the salute.
The future.
