I suffer from very sore shoulders and neck after kiting. i think it had to do with looking over my shoulder for long periods (twisting the neck).

I am trying to reduce how much i do this in the hope that i can reduce the problem.

I was wondering if the sliding bar like Dynabar would help by allowing more twist in the waist therefore reducing the need to twist in the neck??

Any thoughts? would the V6 be the right model?

Chris.

It's not the V6 you require, it's the teaspoon, or more like table spoon of cement you require.

Get the Dynabar.

Have you thought that it might be the wiplash from the crashes, or the simple vibration of riding which is aggravating your spine.

maybe try to relax more when you ride, and don't look in one spot all the time. drop your leading arm to help relax your position going upwind, look up at the kite, down at your feet, mix it up a bit and let the harness do the work when you are mowing the lawn.

Hi Chris, I wish to help you in better understanding of DYNABAR feautures.
Yes, sore to shoulders and neck is due to kiting position and it's worst if you suffer neck cervical.
Using DYNABAR you can turn your body in the riding direction and the best is the PRORACE model with dyneema rope because the hook can be placed in any position as you like.

Just to help avoid any confusion, the V6 Dynabar comes with all 3 variations, so you can try the Prorace, Prowave or Freeride versions, takes minutes to swap from one to the other.

Mate I'm not too sure why your neck would be sore? Learn to ride without looking at the kite a whole lot. Feel where it is. Eventually you can ride for a long time without even looking at it.

I would say it may actually be a back problem that manifests in the neck, and has nothing to do with looking at the kite. Stretch your hammies in front of the telly using a tea towel keeping your back straight, slowly, it shouldn't twinge or hurt. Then do a few light lower back stretches. Do this before you fly as well. Why? I suffered from back probs due to my crazy football days and used to get sore neck probs as well. This helped a lot.

The dynabar will help, but it is only part of the solutions. Tight hammies, strain the lower back which can translate all the way up tot he neck. For me this was the case.

Eppo is spot on in regards to back and neck pains, and provided they are not severe then some stretching and exercise should help heaps and results should be felt within 6-8 weeks, as it takes that long to build new muscle.
Try the exercises and stretches on this website

I have been using the dynabar for the last two years, it will certainly assist in any looking over the shoulder issues.
the only issue that you need to reto fit, is a abrass bush instead of the the nylon bush that is supplied, as it flat sides with the thread catching it after a short use.
this may have been addressed since my purchase. Its great for wave riding ,,get one.
