id like to set up my C-kite with a 5th line.pretty easy bar to set it up with ( 2015 GAASTRA ...... any body who has one knows how simple & clean they are)
never really used a 5th line rig before.
before i go and fiddle with my bar and start splicing some lines......
....... does the 5th line need to be the same length ???
( eg: like all modern 4line bars, or is the 5th line a wee bit longer ?? )
thanks in advance

Yeah 5th line is longer.

It's longer by the distance from the centre of the leading edge to the kite edge.

Bit more than a wee bit. Around 2m

I guess it depends... The North kites fly with all 5 lines the same length....

Hey mate,

All north 5th element lines are the same length.
The middle line (5th line) from the kite is made so this works.

I would recommend setting up your's with excess and tying a not in the lin each time to make it shorter, until your at the desired length.
Make sure its not loaded or it will screw up the way your kite flies.

Good luck

Good grief
Why would you bother?

sounds like you're gonna mess up the way your kite flies, and spend a whole lot of time, money and effort in the process.

If you haven't had a 5 liner before , why would you feel the need now?
IMHO buy a 5 line kite, or just enjoy what you've got. ( and riding it the way the expert kite designer intended. )
