The metal cyilinder that goes through the center of the bar and feeds line to the chicken loop seeps to be tearing at my lines? I hear this is a common issue can anyone guide me to fixing this?
Also can anyone from slingshot comment, I have had quite a few probs with my 13 rev.
simple, just put a smaller rope through for your depower line. i have used a spectra rope, works perfect. and dont buy the SS one, people think that will fix the problem. ITS THE SAME ROPE!!! ![]()
My mate had a problem with SS fuel bar and bladders. he contacted SS and they replaced them straight away, no questions asked.
I don't see what your problem is, as sorse said, contact SS direct.
I did the whole spectra pulley mod as per previous forum thread, and works awesome. But - my spectra still wears out every few months. I always keep spare rope and screwdrivers nearby.
Good idea to file and polish the metal hole.
If no one complains about their kite how would you choose between all the brands?
This is our right to complain about the products as we pimping about our favorite products.

That's a stupid thing to say Kadkhah. ![]()
Booman's 1st comment was fair enough, enquiring about a fixit to a problem.
But the statement " Also can anyone from slingshot comment, I have had quite a few probs with my 13 rev." How on earth is Slingshot supposed to address that?
Go to slingshot with your questions, or be specific in the forum.
These are not really complaints. When Slingshot stuff's Booman around & tells him to piss off, then it's a complaint. I would expect most kites have had their teething problems.
While on the REV topic, I'm quite puzzled. Personally I'm still extremely happy with my REVs. And this thread has been positive, & yet other threads on the very same topic have been negative to the point of agressive. What's going on with these bars???
I had a number of bars go in 06/07 with this and I have never owned a slingshot kite that made it past two years without bladder problems (specifically delaminating nipples). Some Fuels didn't even make 6 months without bladder issues. I hate having bladder problems and delaminating nipples.
why can't ss just put plastic coating around the depower rope? i know of many people that have had ss replace their bar no questions asked. as a buisness man myself, if i had to replace products due to poor design i would be thinking how to rectify the problem asap. but year after year they continue to make crap that falls apart. something so simple could save the company money and would save kiters from replacing rope every few months.
I tried thinner rope. With thinner rope the stopper just falls down, jambs and you can't depower. The stopper relies on friction from rope of the thickness supplied, so you cannot go thinner without sacraficing this function.
Below the bar depower is no more comfortable than above the bar, in fact it is too close to get good leverage when you need to pull it, so imo above the bar depower is actually better and would allow the additional advantage of plastic coating the depower line.
I will re-post my picture of my depower line after 6 WEEKS use. This was a new bar that I started using end of Dec 08 and by early Feb 09 it looked like this.
if the cleat couldn't be below the bar, why not change your design to something different so a plastic coating can be used on the depower rope. ss have used the cleat for a few years now. why not have an ordinary depower strap instead of the cleat. the cleat lasted for me a few months and on other kites i've owned the depower strap has lasted much longer, some never breaking.
When my cleat wore out on my fuel i replaced it with an old naish depower strap and it fixed that problem, but still my depower rope kept wearing out every couple months.
I love my rev bar. I shortened the chicken loop by almost half which feels heaps more comfy. To combat the stopper ball slipping I tried a few things but ended up just pushing it all the way up the rope where it jams and stays put. I only need to use the stopper if I'm carrying someone's board and need to fly and steer with one hand.
heres what i have done to my bar and it works perfectly with little effort sheeting and cleating and placeing the stopper ball where ever .
i have filed out the center of the bar so it doesn`t rub the lines . the lines are a spectra speed 6mm ,which 2 meters costs about 8 bucks from your local whitworths. its the best line i`ve tryed and i`ve tryed alot. it is a 4-6mm cleat so why put 8mm line in it?
the pulley is a riely rm805 and is rated to 650 kgs and works like a dream 2 finger sheeting..the stopper has a piece of 2mm nylon through it . to get the rope through buy a sailing needle and sailing cotton.you`ll be surprised how often it comes in handy.
hope this helps, love my rev
