Hi all,
Have a brand new rev1 9m.
Did a search but all the posts are too old.
what knots do people use on the front/back. I tried mine for the first time briefly yesterdayat the bottom end of the kite's windrange and had the rear lines on the shortest length setting (closest knot to kite) and the front on the longest (furtherest knot from kite). At zero depower it seemed a bit oversheeted.
Just asking cos my other kite (not a rev) I just use the middle knots everytime.
I was asking the same question not so long ago. I too have a REV 9. I've found in the lower end of it's wind range making the back lines shorter by a knot and with full depower makes the kite feel (as you say) over-sheeted & causes it to backstall... A few inches pulled on the depower seems to make it fly heaps better and I use the last knot on both front and back lines. ![]()
Hey Mate,
After trying all the different positions many different winds and times i think the best way to rig the REV is to have the outside lines on the last knot available (i.e. further from kite) and the inside lines so the loop on the kite is on the first knot on the lines (i.e. making it as far away from the bar as possible)
In slightly lighter winds if you are feeling a little underdone move the outside lines to the middle knot.
This, for me, is the best way to ride it.
Hope it helps.
Middle and middle seems to be the consensus-sounds like REV1 and REV2 are rigged differently as I had EXACTLY the opposite problem-although I like to ride with a kite at full power with the bar half way down centre line so that it oversheets at at full sheeting of the bar.
thanks for replying everyone!
As i supected I had it oversheeted.
I like the kite BTW....first time I have flown anything under a 12m.
You know that the positioning on the knots is not always about wind range. If you are using the knots as a source of greatening the effect of unhooking on the kite you should put the outer lines on the first knot and the middle lines on the middle knot.
