What do you weigh? Riding waves? Surfboard? Just asking because riding waves is more dynamic than just cruising. I am about 87 ks right now. I was out riding waves in similar conditions. It was a little nasty in the gusts, super powered up and then powered up nicely. Where I was riding was straight cross shore and I experienced similar flap, but I was trying hard to wash off speed and expected it as I had the bar fully sheeted out. I kite this spot regularly and yesterday although had some decent double over head waves it was more challenging and bumpy due to the wind and east swell angle. Also, I was using 25 meter lines on a big bar.....and it's making me think that I will start using 20 mt lines and smaller bar as per what many Reo riders are using. Other than that the session was pretty damn fun and I am enjoying the Reos VERY much.

You have made the switch @dafish?
I have never felt as if the Reo is unstable. They handle gusty winds really well and you can dump all their power mid turn just by letting the bar out. Maybe your kite wasn't pumped hard enough? I like mine rock hard (not like other things )

Ya dude, made the switch this season. Though I was happy with my last kites, it was time for a change. I had flown the Reos and knew the characteristics were similar to what I was flying before so I am pretty happy and there really is no adjustment for me, except I might be using shorter lines on the 8. Will test to see how I like it. Overall I am loving them. I have had one thing happen that I heard rumors about and that the struts were too small. I did some digging to find out. While out foiling a few weeks ago I found out what they were saying first hand. I had a hard stack and tomahawked my kite straight down wind. Impact flexed the middle strut and buried it in the water and it stopped the kite from filling up with air and wouldn't relaunch. I had to mess with it a bit to fill it back up but it didn't take but a few seconds. Had I done that in the surf there would have been no relaunch and I would have released. No big deal really, but I do think the extra few pumps does matter so it's something to be vigilant about.
Now a few more waves would not go astray down here ;)

agree when tearing across the window in overpowered conditions (sheeted out) they make some noise - to be expected as you're asking it to shoot it across the window without generating much lift so the sail is not going to be under much tension and will flap around. Price you pay for so much de-power.

It seems to have a pretty slim centre profile/narrow struts so sits forward in the window, buckles more easily/crumples in the surf but makes it faster flying/more responsive than others

+1 for 20m lines, especially on the larger kites

A flappy kite is a depowered kite.
