Depends upon ability, board (type/size etc.) and conditions-but as a general comment I'd say about 22/24 knots-better off on a 9M-the wind range is huge-I'm 75kg and fly mine from 12-25+-usually on a surfboard-sometimes a twin.

yea well I'm going to brisbane this sunday and looking at the forecast.... well i don't think ill be needing my 16. Just hoping its not too windy for my 12m (my smallest kite). Oh yea I use a 134 Naish Thorn
Skill level: I guess intermediate

I'd be guessing about 25 knots at a top end, but as loco said that depends greatly on ability. Being an 80kg early-intermediate rider i'm happy putting up my 11m Instinct in anything up to ~25 knots, as long as the gusts stay below 30. With a bit more experience i'd imaging i'd get another couple of knots out of it.

One way to find out; rig it, launch it, ride it.

I've only once got to a beach and thought 'better not' with my 11m and that was when guys were out on the water fully lit with 7m kites. When i got home and checked the wind obs it said it was about ~30-35 knots gusting to 50.
My way to gauge the strength of the wind is actually how much sand is moving along the beach. If there's enough to sting my bare legs but tolerable then it's rideable. If it actually hurts then i'd better just go home.

I like my Ozone Instinct. Even though it's not the most grunty kite around it's certainly got fantastic range and great for gust-munching.
