Hi all
Scrolling facebook a few months back, i seen a perspex kiteboard. Long story short, i managed to get some 20mm perspex and chucked a rough shape/edge on it and heres the result
It has no fins and no rocker, weighs about 8 kgs and rides like crap..... but was awesome to cruise the shallows having a clear view below
If someone is thinking of doing the same, i would suggest only using 10 or 12mm, i went 20mm thinking it wouldn't be strong enough be, lesson learnt
Wind was in so didn't have time to put fins on. Having a concave base and a bit of rocker is more important than fins, just my opinion, plummet might have a better take on it
Trying to source a sheet of 10mm now. It's just a novelty board but imagine standing on a high definition TV, i had no idea how many crabs and little fishy's i cruise over every day

Get Lexan not Perspex as that stuff will snap & cut your leg off or worse, your goolies
Lexan is high strength
hey
Same as mentioned.
Ive used acrylic perspex up to 14mm thick and it breaks quite easy and when it does ,comes away in long
razor sharp shards sharper than glass.
use bullet proof lexun only. super expensive.
chuck the thing in the bin.
great idea though!
Cheers for the input guys. Dont know squat about plastics
This is what i used astariglas
Good or bad?
lexens better uv stabilised and can be spray painted colours, Ive used it to repair sole of pads, stronger than original
i have a bit of 6mm that i tried to fold in half and snap, didnt work. and can be laminated with special glue, just needs to be painted as it doesnt look good
from 2 minutes on you can see what its like (looking through the water) when riding on plexi
Looks pretty crap in this vid. You need very clean water
Seriously guys !! are you looking for a glass bottom boat experience or maybe kitesurfing?? LOL Ok that said I applaud Lostatsea's thinking out side the box but Im really not all that focused on whats passing me below unless its reef !!
But maybe this idea could take off in resorts?? - oh wait they all ready have glass bottom boats!!
@ lambie , i seen an innovative idea and wanted to try it, its a novelty board, for what it has cost me vs what i got out of it, im well and truly stoked with it, i wanted to share the stoke i got hence the reason for posting the pic.
