ahoy all, I have a 2013 north rebel and need some help with identifying this part that needs replacing. on the kite where you connect the steering line, there is also an elastic line connecting kite, this elastic is very warn and not going to last, dose anyone no what that is called and where I could get a replacement, and what would happen if it broke.
cheers :)
Your local north dealer will set you right. This "bungee" helps stop the steering line wrap around the wing tip. Could be wrong but I would be to concerned in the short term.
Replaced the part you speak of with thicker cord from local hardware shop and some hand sewing with thread from local kite repairer. For a 9 m Rebel 2011. Still going strong, most used kite in the quiver
And, I remember making enquiries re the length of bungee etc and not having much luck. So, took measurements from originals and just fabricated my own as per above. As I said, still going strong.
Can't remember now why the originals wore out but suspect it was inferior quality bungee cord that didn't like the sun.
always thought this was for taking up backline slack? most ship chandlers have a similar cord, kim at gero surf and sail could send you a replacement
Same thing happened to my 12 m.
Bunnings or any boating type shop have "shock " cord/ "bungy "cord whatever you want to call it.
tie a bowline knot or something that wont slip at each end.I couldnt work out how to do the loop loop at both ends so easier to tie it off . Worked fine.
Length for a 12m kite is 350mm from memory cost about $7.00
cheers guys, was thinking of doing somthin like that, yeh I was disappointed that it didn't last but yeh for $7 cant complain. thanks for all the info guy:)
