hey guys just wondering what you think of a 2008 slingshot turbo diesle 12m for a beginer im doing prety good and went out in nuking wind and was overpowerd on a 9 bandit 3 ( not mine ) and are prety good at handiling kites just dont have much money as im only 14 and weigh 63kg going to start with one kite someone is trying to sell it to me $350 opinion's
Get some kite lessons, spelling lessons and a smaller kite. Plenty of choice out there, find something newer and smaller and you'll have more fun.
you're really better off saving a bit more and buying a newer kite. If you were overpowered on a 9m why would you get a 12m? I weigh 88 kg and have a 9m.. deff go smaller than 12m. also it is VERY advisable to get some lessons or at least get someone to properly teach you all the safety features. Teaching yourself is dangerous for yourself and for others.
I bought all my gear: a 2011 cabrinha 9m (used only 4 times), a brand new cabrinha prodigy board and a brand new harness for $1400. then I had 3 x 3 hour lessons for $200 each.
$2000 and you'll be sweet.
Better off saving the cash and waiting for a newer kite at a bargain price. And anything over 10m would be to big. There's plenty of stuff On the buy and sell section. And lessons are a must as proper instructors have insurance incase something happens. Good luck hope you find the right kite not just a kite :-D
rickwindt did you not read the part about him being 14 and wanting a cheap kite?
How many 14 year olds have $2000 to spare?
There are some very safe kites out there post 2009. I wouldnt get a 12m at 60kgs, you should be on an 8m or roundabout.
I would suggest saving another $150 though. There is a big jump between $300 and $500 in quality and year model.
Definately get lessons. Safety is important, but Im a firm believer that you can get a good kite for $500-$600.
I wouldnt get the Diesel, I love Slingshot but you can get a much better kite.
Dave.
Keep it real.
yea thanks for the tips iv had 3 3hr lesons already and i have a slingshot chrisis board and a mystic harnes and have been asked if i wanted to buy a bandit 3 9m for $450 its had a few rips but much better condition thoughts ??
The 9 m will give you lots more mutable days and don't be put off by a few well repaired rips. The guys you got your lesson from will set you right and ask around your local spot all will be a big help.
I use a 2008 11m turbo diesel 2 I am 70kg's i only take it out in 12 to 17knots after that i find i'm overpowered and end up using a smaller kite . Take everyone's advice use a smaller kite to learn on ! I would say 9m or 10m for a one kite quiver .
make sure it has a one pump system. From memory Bandits didnt have one pump for quite some time.
Ive seen an 8m Rpm for $350 on buy and sell
i love rpm's i learnt on a 10m and loved it how old is it and what is the condition like. also any photos ?? and what would it cost to post it to brisbane ??
