Hey Guys, I’m lookin for advice on board choice. I’ve looked at heaps of board reviews but most of them say ‘this is the best board ever’, but its more of a case of the right board for me.
I’m at an intermediate beginner to improver stage (riding toe-side and landing small jumps half the time). I’m looking for a board in the 132 size range to go with my slingshot glide 149 that I love for light winds. I already have an old (ancient) board I bought off ebay a while back but its pretty crappy and I’m really looking for an all round fun board for winds in the 15 – 30 Knot area. I have been considering the Underground FLX 132 and North Cross ride in a similar size. The Cardboards all look good too. I have been recommended the Cabhrina prodigy but feel it may not allow me to progress enough since it is a beginner’s board. It’s the combination of the right rocker flex and rail curve that seems important but which way to go? I’m not really looking for a hard core wake style pop monster but an accessible step up.
I weigh 65 KG and have a Crossbow 2 9M and Contra 2 12 M Riding at Botany bay mostly.
Thanx for the help guys
hey mate get onto padi at surfconnect and demo one of his liquid force recoil comp boards with comp straps on it, ****ing mad as board and doesnt weigh bugger all, worth a try me reckons
I have an 08 north crossride and its the ticket. Excellentboard in choppy conditions or riding some waves. I wouldn't swap it for the world, you should demo some boards befor you buy. But in my opinion you can't go wrong with the crossride. i ride the 141.
hey slim. i bought the 09 underground 144x46 as my lightwind board a few months back and was so impressed i sold my 2008 board and bought the 09 135 underground.. its such a good board. i am a 100kg beginner and i find the UG such a user friendly board and you will never outgrow it.. I live on the mid north coast and kitepower in syd delivered the next morning after buying.. PS thanks Steve![]()
Crossride 135 and the Underground FLX 132 are both great boards, haven't tried a CB but I've yet to meet some one that didn't like theirs.
If you've narrowed it down to those 3 give'm a demo and pick your favorite. the Crossride and Underground FLX work really well in chop
The Slingshot Lunacy for 2009 now comes in 129, 132 and 135.
It is more of the hardcore Freestyle/Wakestyle board but it's real good in pretty much any conditions, if you can then you should try the 132cm.
but any of those other boards are still great, try all the boards back to back.
ADEN.
Hey slim,
I have been kiting a year now and came from learning on a priodigy, they do a job but have a level, i have tried a liquid force 127 cm but was way too small ( for my 78 Kg) i now have the under ground 132 flx big improvement ![]()
jumping is easy and the new foot pads are excellent.
i was riding my mates Hammer on friday & that is excellent for chop a very easy ride but a little loose compared to the underground board.
go the underground you wont regret it and resale is excellent![]()
SJ,
Macca was on my 138 Hammer, it's a great board in chop and waves but if you can only afford one board then this is NOT the one for you. It's not an all rounder and doesn't pretend to be either. I also have a Nobile 666 (129) for flatter water the 2 boards compliment each other well.
Slack
naish, caution and chemical boards are heaps of fun. very good boards, light fast and smooth. price is not too bad either
Hey Slimjim
Have to say the best board for you is one thats built just for you
go custom!
$849 delivered, pretty hard to beat![]()
